Last chance to nominate - who's helped to promote body confidence in children this year?

Hello

Some of you might remember that we've joined up with the Campaign for Body Confidence, to try to reduce the pressure on all of us to look perfect and to promote a more positive body image - particularly among children and young people. You can find out more about the campaign here.

Supportive parliamentarians have now formed a cross-party forum to look into body image anxiety in the UK, and they'll be reporting back later this year. In the meantime, the two groups are launching the Body Confidence Awards, celebrating the contribution of individuals, organisations and companies who've helped to promote body confidence over the last year.

We're very pleased to announce that we'll be there on the night, to present the Mumsnet Award for promoting body confidence in children.

Could you help us out by getting your thinking caps on, and letting us know who you think deserves the award? Feel free to think creatively - the winner could be a product or an organisation, but it could equally be an individual or even a TV or book character.

Please leave your suggestions on the thread - the one with the most mentions wins the gong!

Another vote for Helen Skelton, she's awesome. PinkStinks does great work too.

Not keen on Gok, I don't like the message that body confidence is about filling yourself up.

Pink Stinks gets my vote. A good focus on promoting confidence from a young age.

Every time I've seen Gok Wan the focus of the programme seems to be about "doing the best with what you have", rather than embracing what you have and saying "to hell with looking stick thin". I don't think that encouraging people to wear this or that to cover "flab" is helpful at all. If I'd grown up watching those programmes, I'd have had a lot less confidence than I actually do. I certainly wouldn't want him to win award for his programmes.

I'm a lone voice- but while I absolutely love Miranda, I'm not convinced at her as a role model. Yes she's "good fun" and all the rest, but there is still an undrcurrent of mockery. It's somehow miraculous that a handsome man can be interested in her. She is portrayed as desperate- the seriously cringy episode with the doctor springs to mind. And the subtext is still that Stevie is how women are supposed to look. Basically, underneath all the subtlety and wit, we are being asked to laugh at a big, not conventionally attractive woman.

I must go back an have another look at Gok Wan. Obviously others see something in him that I don't.

You're not a lone voice Seeker. I agree with you completely on Miranda.

Cerri from CBeebies, she's a great role model and a very geniune person who doesn't hide from her disability and is a fantastically positive person, she gets my vote :)

It is a shame- but telling- that there don't seem to be many nominations.
