Jack the Ripper game for 7 year olds

Just come back from Asda with two girls looking through Ninendo DS range - at number 3 in the top ten games - Jack the Ripper! I kid you not, on sale and suitable for 7 year olds apparently - wonder how a Yorkshire Ripper game would go down. This casual celebration of sexual violence against women and girls is all part of a very disturbing perspective. What's your view?

Well, at least you play the game from the POV of a detective, working to solve violent crimes against women. Not sure about for a 7YO though...

He was a bad man who murdered people and lived over a hundred years ago?
There are much better choices on the market for a child to enjoy, so I'd wave one of those in front of her.

Its not the point I'm making - I'm not going to buy it for my child obviously, but when Asda signs up to Mumsnet's "Let Girls be Girls" campaign it has zero credibility and shouldn't be given webspace. What I'm saying is it contributes to the kind of environment that's produced by Li'll porn star t shirts, lazy lads mags, lap dancing karaoke sets in pink plastic etc. I asked if its all just a bit o fun would ninentdo make a Yorkshire Ripper game, and if not why not?

Wouldn't buy it for my dds,but,years ago when me and my cousins were all under 10,we used to play a game we called 'Jack the Ripper',which involved us hiuding in the woods and chasing each other amid much screaming.This was in the late 70's early 80's.

It depends how its done - if its about how a man could murder women indiscriminately and without sanction in those good old days, then cool, but celebrating the man through tours, gift shoppes etc. makes me boke

just to add- concerned about games such as duke nukem, even though its an 18, kids will probably find their way to it anyway and end up playing them-eg their older brothers, friends brothers etc. and was disturbed that they are now properly sexing up computer games as well, so it has just infiltrated everything media wise and thats now what the world has become, just a way of explointing womens bodies and mens labidos. im sure there are other games similar but this one really shocked me when i saw it advertised. you can of course choose to not buy this for children but just the fact that this is how the world is, nude computer animated women, overly enhanced in all the prefered, it will be computer animated sex scenes next, 3d!! i could go on.
