shabs - you are so naughty

MonkeyMargot · 09/01/2010 20:48

Curio and neenz thanks for sharing your birth stories with me and for your advice on getting the hospital's twins policy. This is something I would not have thought of doing so big thank you. I have my 16 week checkup next week so will be asking lots of questions. My pal gave birth at this hospital last year with her twins, and all I know is that it's their policy to deliver at 37 weeks. This doesn't sound great - means presumably induction at best, CS worst. I shall however hold judgement til I've found out all the facts.
Hello starshaker! I am also expecting twins, in June, so I'm a little ahead of you. Hope you've got over the shock! The ladies on here are wise and extremely knowledgable (and nutters...).

trips glad you made your book club. I hate it when my DH makes me feel guilty just before I go out. I tend to ignore him and do it anyway but it does p*ss me off. What's your next book choice?

To all of you northeners, I'm originally from Burnley but have been living in London for 12 years. I still favour brown sauce over ketchup though, which as everyone knows, is a Northern thing.

Anyone else on here in Londinium?

Sophie2008 · 09/01/2010 21:15

Hi all,

I'm currently 22+5 with non id twins. I hope it's ok that i join this thread. Got a private scan next week to find out the sexes as the local hospital doesn't sex the babies at the 20 week scan.

I have a DD who is 17 months old, and i'm already fed up with all the comments of how i am going to have my hands full. I just smile and say it'll be fun i am sure. I know it's going to be a mission, but so worth it.

I'm moving house mid feb too to the other side of England! I really don't like making things easy!

Been trying to find out the twin birthing policy for the hospital of where i am moving too, but no luck yet.

oooggs · 09/01/2010 21:29

hi Sophie & welcome.

Your dd will be the same age when your dts are born that my dts were when ds3 was born. 3 under 2 is fab 3 under 3 is great and twins are fantastic

where are you moving to? as if you haven't got things stressful enough!

MonkeyMargot · 09/01/2010 21:34

Yay sophie. Congrats and welcome. i am new here too and am getting the same comments re. "having your hands full". My DD will be 19 months when hmy twins arrive in June. I even got a letter today from my SIL saying "3 under 2, you are either very brave or very mad". Now, it's not like I had much choice in the matter is it?! How did I know i'd pop 2 eggs out?
Will try and be calm...
Where are you moving too? I see from your profile you are west mids based at moment.

Monkey - BURNLEY - another Northern lass!!!!! You can be darn sarf but you are still a Northern gal!!!!

Neenz - just caught the end of the news - something about Adebayor (sp???) and the African football - sounded bloody awful....I would make a great reporter wouldnt I - always wanted to be a journalist....my headline for tomorrow would be 'SOMETHING HAPPENED IN THE FOOTIE - BUT ADEBAYOR (SP???) IS JUST GRAND SO DONT WORRY!! Sorry girls - Neenz and me are Manchester City fans and are football mad.

largeginandtonic · 10/01/2010 07:58

Shabs how many hours on average do you sleep?

Trips!!! Hopw is H? How are the lovely 3some.I am super of your book club. It sounds like a lively thing to do and fabulous excuse for a piss up get together with friends every week

Pixie my lovely Are you suffering atm? What's going on? Are you stuck in with all the dc?

Monkey i had not long known mine were twins at 16 weeeks, you sound very organised. I could have done with being organised as mine arrived at 29 weeks. I had done nothing but write a very pretty birth plan

Sophie congrats to you too you will be made to feel very special with a twin pregnancy. Lot's of fuss is how it should be

Momma how are your gorgeous brrod? Mars and i were talking about you the other night Were your ears burning? All lovely

My dts were 20 mths when i had dd1, i have averaged one every 2 years since then No more twins though

We are still stuck in. Mananged a walk yesterday but pushing the Phil and Teds was very hard work. We went along the beach and stopped in the cafe for hot chocolate. The wind was pretty nasty. Think we had a smattering of snow overnight. Brrrrrrrrrr

Sophie2008 · 10/01/2010 08:08

Good Morning,

Oooggs - I'm moving from the west mids to East Anglia, just outside King's Lynn due to DH work. And so far it's been nothing but stressful. Will be glad once i've moved then i can get down to business with sorting the house out ready for the arrival of Itchy and Scratchy! (My DT's) lol

Got to finish sorting out the bedrooms today, having a tidy up before i need to pack.

largeginandtonic · 10/01/2010 08:11

Careful Sophie, no heavy lifting.

Are you excited about the move? I hate the packing but quite like the clearout that comes from a move. It's very cleansing.

bagpuss · 10/01/2010 09:01

LG&T, if its any consolation you were still more organised than me. I ended up at a hospital 50 miles from home, waters broken and no hospital bag, a mobile with no credit and no money . Monkey, speaking of which I would advise that you also check out your hospital's neonatal care. I didn't and was very surprised to find on arrival at hospital at 32 weeks that they had no room for me or the appropriate level of care for my two, hence the transfer at 3.00 am. I am seriously considering speaking to the head of midwifery services about my care during the birth of my twins as it was very patchy. My HV has suggested that I do so that no one else has to go through what I did. I would hate for anyone on this thread to experience what I did and had written a post the other day to this end, but didn't post simply because I still sound so bitter (I am) and really don't want to frighten all you newly pg people .

Golly, that was a bit long winded for this time of the day . Welcome to you too sophie . You will very much have to get used to the comments about having your hands full, and the good news is that it gets even better once your twins arrive - people seem to love stating the obvious but they generally only do it because they are not sure what else to say. If I'm feeling particularly cross I usually reply with a cheery 'better full than empty' which usually gets the message across. Although I was quite clueless about how life would be with twins before they arrived, now that they are here I can hand on heart say that I love having them and feel that it really is a privilege to be a twin mum - it makes me cross when I think of how negative people can be about having two at once. I hope your move goes well and I agree with LG&T, no heavy lifting!

LG&T, you are doing very well to get out of the house at all I think. I have been stuck in with the dts for a few days now, in fact I rather like fg's idea of hibernation, would certainly save me from having to do the school run .

Shabs/Neenz, dh went to a city game a few months back. He was invited by one of the government owned banks . He has been to quite a few games as a corporate guest but said that city was probably the best so far. He said he could see the Gallagher brothers in one of the boxes and also Ricky Hatton too. I think he was a little star struck .

shabbapinkfrog · 10/01/2010 09:59

Morning girls xx

largeginandtonic · 10/01/2010 10:26

Bagpuss (i loved bagpuss btw) that sounds terrible You must contact the head of midwifery and go through your notes. I will really help. They should go through it with a midwife trained to do that too.

Sometimes hearing the big picture is better. Fear of the unknown can be worse.

My birth plan was full of water birth and candles, plinky plonky music and cushions HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
