Neenz the reason you don't hold their heads is so that they can move their heads backwards (tilt) the same we do when we drink. Also it stops them from feeling suffocated. Do support them at the back of the neck. Glad the feedings going well though.

PazzaPlusTwo · 27/05/2008 15:16

Ruby - your trip with your friend sounds intriguing! Any tales you can share?

shabster · 27/05/2008 15:56

Quick post - tomster thinks this is his computer!!! He is much better.

Em saw the midwife today cause she is now...drum roll...38 weeks. Her midwife says Lew is definitly fully engaged and in her opinion and words 'Well Em, I am delighted with you, everything is spot on, you are both healthy and more to the point you are 'ripe' for popping ' Her midwife is also convinced that she wont go overdue!! Danny is a nervous, gibbering wreck, stuck in work 6 miles away. LOL.

Em also had a Braxton hicks thingymebob whilst the midwife was having a feel of Lew.

Talk later girls....

I'm sorry to gatecrash the thread but I desperately need some immediate help from twin mums.

I'm 10 and a half weeks pregnant and just had my booking in with midwife. I already have twins from last pregnancy who are nearly three.

She is concerned that it might be twins again, she thought she heard a second heartbeat but wasn't 100% sure. I'm also measuring about 14 weeks.

She's trying to get me an early scan at our local hospital.

I am just so upset and confused. I love my twins to bits but I just don't know what I'd do if it was twins again. I don't even know if I should be posting this here as I don't mean to sound insulting to those who have more than one set of twins or more- I just really needed to talk to someone who knows how it feels when you get the news it might be twins and the conflicting emotions.

Could it be that because I stretched so much last time that I'm measuring big for my dates? I'm quite slight of build and tall and I had big babies last time, measuring 48 weeks by the time I had them at 38 weeks.

If anyone could help me that would be so kind. I can't get hold of DH and hardly anyone else knows as we were keeping things quiet until 12 weeks.

largeginandtonic · 27/05/2008 16:04

Oh Hatty! It is ok, it really is. There are mad people on here who have twins and triplets!!

Dont panic just yet, it is such a guess with early pregnancy. Your dates could be slightly out, anything is possible. Is there noone who can go with you? Where are you?

largeginandtonic · 27/05/2008 16:07

By the way i am also in panic mode for another set of twins...

I did ask for it though

hattyyellow · 27/05/2008 16:28

Sobbing quietly and waiting for hospital to phone back with scan time.

Have got hold of DH who is also shellshocked but made the mistake of laughing nervously..community midwife spent the whole appointment cackling quietly as I went whiter and whiter

Are you pregnant again ginandtonic?

triplets · 27/05/2008 16:29

Try not to panic, easy I know, I thought I was having ivf twins until they found a 3rd heartbeat, I was 46...............could be worse?

largeginandtonic · 27/05/2008 16:32

I am Hatty, am very pleased but a little nervous.

I'm glad you got hold of dh, please dont panic. It could just be your dates and leaping bean that managed to jump so much the midwife thought she heard 2 heart beats

If it was twins again it will be ok, just think how experienced you are now. It will be a doddle compared to last time, plus the twins are 3 so by the time the next lo is born they will almost be off to school or at least in playschool 5 days a week.

largeginandtonic · 27/05/2008 16:33

Trips me old mucker how is H doing?

hattyyellow · 27/05/2008 16:44

Got a scan on Friday mroning and appointment with the consultant. DD's nursery have managed to slot them in for an extra session so at least we can go without little ones.

Just got to get through the next few days. Pretty convinced of last period, it started on my birthday so fairly easy to remember the date and it definitely felt like a proper period.

Surely there is a possibilty that I might be measuring large because I stretched so much last time?

Triplets you have all my admiration. Ginandtonic congrats - how far along are you?

largeginandtonic · 27/05/2008 16:51

Dunno Hatty, up for debate really. May be 6-7 weeks, may be 4. I had a Colposcopy and assumed i had a period right after but maybe not...

I feel dreadful and took a test over aweek ago as i felt so sick. I think i am only 4 weeks hence the worry about more than 1. I dont normally get sick until week 6-7 unless it is TWINS or a GIRL > either way really

Not long to wait, plan nice things everyday to distract your self. It will soon come round, good that you managed to put the twins in nursery too, that is a distraction you can do without on the day!

triplets · 27/05/2008 16:54

Apart from the fact he is being a PITA,he looks well, he is eating well, lots of energy, totally diff from this time last week. He is on Vit B12 injections, plus iron tabs to get his blood count up before chemo statrs which should be within the next two weeks, I am sooooooooo dreading it! Hows your daughter doing?

MarsLady · 27/05/2008 17:25

Hatty my darling. It will be fine! You will be fine!

If it's twins again... you're a pro and this time you have US as support.

If it's not twins... then you can breathe that sigh of relief.

But FOR NOW.......... try not to worry it through. Besides... I was always 7 weeks ahead of my dates even with the singletons (blimming weak stomach muscles...sob!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you think you've got it bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

oooggs · 27/05/2008 17:57

oh hatty - try not to worry about it and we are here (most of the time!!)

LG&T - any news on your dates/scan/bloods yet?

HM - sorry to hear about dh & fil

shabster · 27/05/2008 18:11

hatty - dont think we have met, unless you are really frumpy posting under a different name!!

I really agree with the other multiple mums - you will know what to do if it is twins again. You wont be floundering around thinking 'whats wrong with them, why are they crying' 'how do I feed them at the same time' 'how do we do the bedtime routine' etc etc. I am a really firm believer in Ce sera sera....and multiples are so wonderful and so special Keep posting and letting everyone know what is going on xx

hattyyellow · 27/05/2008 18:14

Thanks girls - welling up with tears at your kindness. My DDs think all their Christmas's have come at once as I am allowing them a ceebeebies marathon and a tea of rice pudding and lots of cheese on toast in front of the tv!

Was thinking of cancelling my work for next few days (am freelance) but think i need the distraction.

Mars that's interesting about you measuring bigger than dates...the midwife said I had very strong stomach muscles, would that make it harder to palpate and feel the baby/ies?

My world is spinning!

MarsLady · 27/05/2008 18:22

Not necessarily... but remember mws are human (yes they are!) and sometimes make mistakes. It may well be that your stomach stretched out nice and easily because this isn't a first pregnancy.

I'm a great believer in not worrying (only drinking lots of alcohol) until necessary! Sigh.......... sometimes I even manage it!

shabster · 27/05/2008 18:24

Hiya Mars - you feeling better love?

Did you read my post earlier about Em's great midwife? 'Ripe for popping!!' I like that expression. The midwife is my midwife from when I had Tom...she was wonderful.

PazzaPlusTwo · 27/05/2008 18:57

Shabs - talk about 'continuity of care'!

iamdingdong · 27/05/2008 19:03
oooggs · 27/05/2008 19:28

who has had a singleton after twins and what was the age gap please?

GodzillasBumcheek · 27/05/2008 20:25

Just logged on and there's a relevant question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, had DD3 9 and a half years after the DTDs.

frumpygrumpylovesbruce · 27/05/2008 20:41

Hatty!!! You poor love. Stick with us til Friday and we will drag you through. Well, except me as I won't be here until Thursday late.....

You are living my nightmare. I have a DD1 (7) and DTs (nearly 4) and I would dearly love another baby/child. I really don't wish to have twins again though....... Hatty, if I am lucky enough to have another baby.....and if it did turn out to be twins......I would just jump into that headfirst. The downside is F awful. The upside is unique and unregrettable (if that is even a word).

What I am trying to say is, don't feel bad about dreading it. Just keeping talking to us and take each half day as it arrives. You came to the right place!!

frumpygrumpylovesbruce · 27/05/2008 20:42

HM had her DD1 after her twins DS.
