Twin prawns and buggies? Money no object

I had 2 eggs implanted in November, positive test, but got my scan on Weds to discover firstly if (please please please) everything ok, secondly, one or both eggs?!

Obviously I am getting all overexcited, and indulging myself in some day-dreaming and window internet shopping

So, let’s pretend money isn’t an object what would your Rolls Royce of double prams or pushchairs have been?

Ooooh, and nappy bags?!

Tiger prawns are quite costly.

And go nicely in a curry.

Bugaboo Donkey, no question. I had a second hand iCandy peach twin that I loved, but I really wanted a Bugaboo Donkey.

If money was no object at all, I'd have both - Bugaboo for walks and iCandy for nipping in and out of shops, as it's a lot narrower.

Having said that, the Baby Jogger city mini double is fantastic at a fraction of the price.

good luck! we had a mountain buggy with cots to start then the seats. The cots were tiny and didn't last long!

Ooooh, I really wanted an iCandy for DD2, couldn’t afford one, didn’t realise they did twin ones! 😻

I'd never get an iCandy double - they are no better or more spacious than other inlines. Just a lot more money.

It really depends what you want, boot space, storage space, other factors. I have a City Select - love the flexibility but it's hard to steer/get up kerbs and steps, and it's heavy and I get annoyed having to assemble it each time. I also have an out and about nipper which is great for quick trips and very light, very easy to steer but not as comfortable and hard to adjust the seats. Several twin mum friends have the Donkey but it's also heavy and very wide. I absolutely loved the Joolz Geo but it's very big. On the flip side the Oyster Max is great and light but very small.

If I could go back, I'd get a Mountain Buggy Duet probably - narrow side by side, great steering but still heavy. There's no such thing as a perfect double buggy sadly!

I had a single Emmaljunga for both of mine and my Mum had a double for her twins, absolutely cannot fault any of them. Love, love, love this :o

Weird question - when they are really tiny, can you buy a pram (not prawn) that fits them both in the one oversized carry cot? Or did anyone use a old fashioned large pram for one and put them both in it?

Thanks for all the messages of luck, obviously I’ll be so delighted and lucky to see one little squidge, but the thought of two!!! (I’ve been really cautious about tempting fate etc, and am so scared, but this weekend I’ve decided to give myself the luxury of excitement and hope!)

I have seen a twin pram with one really big carrycot, but I can't remember the make.

I had a Mountain Buggy Duet for my NB twins and 1YO. It is the DEVIL'S PRAM.
It's so bloody narrow it doesn't FIT BABIES. Takes forever to change configuration. So many clips. 2 hand recline. So much fabric. No recline on parent facing baby seat.

I sold it within three weeks of birth and bought a bugaboo second hand for £400.

I LOVE IT. Cosy, big, quick to change around, parent facing, snuggly, lovely.

Not weird, yes, bugaboo donkey. I do and they're 4 months now, because my oldest still needs the other pram seat. Cosy wosy.

I don't think I'd buy a single pram for the sole purpose, just incase they couldn't share for any reason but in theory yes you could.

My sisters were 5 and 6lbs at 37 weeks and it would have been a right squeeze after a week or so.

I have twins who are nine now but will forever regret not buying a massive proper old fashioned vintage pram to put them in! There were loads on eBay and they keep their value quite well. At the time we had five steps up to the front door and it wouldn’t have worked!

Oh and I had a bugaboo Gecko which I used to chuck them both into the pram configuration until about six weeks - top to toe - they looked like the pictures on a playing card!

It's worth considering whether you'd want to use it as a single ever (e.g. Sticking them in the same carrycot initially or when you just need to take one out to the doctors or something) - things like the Donkey, City Select, Oyster Max can be used as a single. Having to push a double width one round when you only have one baby in it would be really annoying!

I only have one baby but I just LOVED my bugaboo. I loved the way it “ steered” and the way it was sprung- much comfier for DD.
It wasn’t cheap- I think I it was about £800 but it was worth every penny. Every penny.
From what other posters are saying they do prams for twins too.

I had the donkey when my twins were little (they’re nearly 5 now).
It was great apart from two things:
It’s a bugger to fold and heavy to lift in and out of the car.
We kept it open in the hallway and they napped in it during the day. I rarely put it in the car.

Also, the wheels puncture really easily.
Tyre slime and spare inner tubes are vital.

Also, am keeping everything crossed that your scan shows two little prawns.

If money was no object I'd have every pram on the market and choose daily which was most appropriate for my plans. This assumes I live in a huge house and can dedicate one wing to the pushchairs.

My neighbours have a thing that looks like a bike trailer. It's roomy and folds completely flat. I am trying to persuade dh we should have two more kids so I can justify buying one

There’s an old model double mountain buggy that had a carrycot that went across the whole width; I think it was the Mountain buggy Duo? Ive seen plenty of the pushchairs on eBay but the twin carrycot might be harder to find.
I think I’d use my money no object to buy a couple of prams. We’ve got a baby jogger select second hand to click car seats in while they’re wee and a double city mini for the main buggy. Twins due any day (also a double embryo transfer).
Probably would’ve got the donkey if money no object just for the parent facing ness but we didn’t have it for DD and didn’t miss it.
Mountain buggy duet is lovely when up but folds massive.
