I've just found out that a friend is expecting triplets! She is 17 weeks pregnant.

Has anyone on mumsnet got any experience?

Oooooh - girlies4's sister has triplets born earlier this year. She doesn't post often, but I can email her and point her in this direction.

LaDiDaDi · 16/11/2006 21:13

That would be great Aero.

And then there is triplets herself, who has 8 year old triplets. She is lovely - I have met her!

hub2dee · 16/11/2006 21:21

Aero - sorry had to LOL @ "doesn't post often" - no kidding, LOL !!!

hub2dee · 16/11/2006 21:22

Three would be fairly full on I'd guess...

Aero · 16/11/2006 22:19

Reckon she's scared of getting sucked in like the rest of us Hub, but she's a good friend of mine and Cadders. Have emailed her and hope she gets a moment to find it in her inbox and come rushing over here!! (Won't be tonight though 'cause I know she's out watching her rock-chick dd1 perform in school concert).

hub2dee · 16/11/2006 22:46

I mean, can you imagine the logistics of three mouths, and three bottoms to attend to, the sleepsuits.... oh wow oh wow. Hey, you and cadders both have chocolate connections. She should've been KitKat of DoubleDecker or whatever.

NotAnOtter · 16/11/2006 23:00

one of my best friends had triplets who were born when her dd was just 13 months
the loveliest best behaved sweetest little peoplei know.
Its been hard but she took help where necessary and we all chucked cots car seats and care her way and she is now wondering about number 5 ( they are 2.5) good luck to your friend!

Aero · 16/11/2006 23:22

Lol hub - she's mum to 4 girls (not to mention foster parent to another little one too), hence name, and no time to mumsnet!! It's her sister who has the triplets. I have three, but at least they didn't all come at once - eek! I take my hat off to parents of multiple birth children. They deserve medals!

ps - She'll be 'd at seeing herself mentioned on this thread!

hub2dee · 16/11/2006 23:28

Sorry, got all confused there.

Aero · 16/11/2006 23:34

forgiven. Sorry LDDD - didn't mean to hi-jack thread - did we hub?!

girlies4 · 17/11/2006 12:57

Hi folks! feel very talked about!Actually only have 5 mins to post cos dealing with school of foster son who is being a little ! at the mo.
My sis had a 2 year old boy and found she was expecting triplets. Totally gobsmacked and scared witless at the time, they are now 18 months(girls) and gorgeous. They have totally taken over their lives, but help from friends and family has always been accepted (and hand-me-downs)and they adore each little different character and of course have built in playmates. Hard work but fabulous! This from mad mum of 4 gorgeous girls who has gone on to be a foster carer! Can I be a sane source of advice?!!

hub2dee · 17/11/2006 13:19

My dd is 16 months. I can imagine having a couple more like her in the room must be unbelieavably amazing and unbelievably tiring. I hope your sis continues to enjoy them and get all the supoprt she can grab, LOL. And your 4.... well, family get-togethers are gonna be massive in your household ! Imagine all the little cousins together ! Awww.

girlies4 · 17/11/2006 14:11

It is fantastic when we all get together! Big families are tiring and crazy to organise but the best thing in the world .LaDiDaDi, you can tell your friend she has a fab time ahead of her!

frumpygrumpy · 17/11/2006 15:47

Hi LaDiDaDi, Triplets indeed is the woman you need to talk to and I would guess by your thread title she's bound to pop in . We multiple mums regularly use the "Do you ever wonder" thread under multiples and triplets pops in there from time to time.

I will post a note in there and keep my eyes open for her. My god, the girl is going to need help, solid help, like cooking up meals on a regular basis or doing laundry. Point her in our direction and we will try to help out where we can (even though most of us just have twins plus other children by comparison).

(I can't believe I said 'just' once upon a time I would hav never believed I could say that, life must be getting easier )

stanley1000 · 17/11/2006 20:43

Hiya!

Your friend should check out Tamba's website for some good tips on managing 3.

I only have twins and personally think that anyone who has triplets deserves a medal!!!

We were fortunate enough to have a maternity nurse for a few weeks who gave us a hot tip that might help your friend. She advised getting some squishy rice stress balls, as you can put them on the babies and balance their bottles on top, then you just move your hands between the three bottles like you're juggling. Glad I didn't have to do that!!!

throckenholt · 18/11/2006 11:06

another place to go it www.twinsclub.co.uk - there are forums there - and everyone has at least twins (some have 2 sets of twins !).

MarsLady · 18/11/2006 15:46

Congratulations.... bloody hell! Nothing but respect!

I'm sure you have seen that there are a few triplet mums here. Tell your friend to register (esp now whilst she has time.... cos it'll be a wee bit busy when they arrive!)

LaDiDaDi · 18/11/2006 18:22

Thanks for all of your replies!

I have told my friend about mumsnet and I hope that she will have a look at this thread. Both sets of Gps live abroad and friend and her dh have recently relocated so they won't have much in the way of family etc around for rl support. She's both excited but anxious, understandably. I will keep you updated on how she does.

Lucky friend!

Jackie Clune wrote a book on her experience of having triplets. You could buy it for her Christmas.

triplets · 22/11/2006 22:12

Its me, I am around! What do you need to know? All I can tell you is it is exhausting, expensive, frustrating, buttttttttttttttt,
for all of that is it the most unique experience, and they are wonderful, although right now they are about to be throttled as tonight we are playing musical beds as we are decorating the boys room so they have been chucked out. I have drawn the short straw as Harry has bagged the sofa bed down stairs, so I have James in with me who snores and kicks, and Thomas is in with Rebecca which means endless trouble! I shall be lucky to get to sleep until midnight at this rate! But don`t let any of this put your friend off, I hope all goes well for her. I had ivf so knew there was a chance of three, is this natural? Do they have other children? I was almost 46 when mine were born!

triplets · 22/11/2006 22:30

Pinkchampagne.............was it at the christnening we met?

Pinkchampagne · 22/11/2006 22:37

Yes it was indeed! I have yet another name change, just to confuse!

triplets · 22/11/2006 22:42

Ha Ha! I did spot you I think a few days ago driving through the town. I take it the Christmas meet up is not happening? We could do our own?

Pinkchampagne · 22/11/2006 22:45

I was very brave & braved London all alone for the meet up!!
A Christmas meet of our own sounds very good though!
