pregnant with twins

I have just found out I am pregnant with twins. After the initial shock/euphoria/relief at having a reason for being soooooo sick, I am now feeling quite scared about what is in store. I have a 2 year old and am worried about the implications for me throughout pregnancy/health of the babies and the effect on my toddler. Any advice/comments/shared experiences would be very welcome.

WOW, you lucky people ! Congrats on the twins, and the very best of luck.

congrats! best of luck - you should look at the bronzing comment on the photo thread - as a mum of twins my nipples would have made a great hat stand.

use plenty of lotion for stretch marks
dont buy anything new
tandam pushchair IMO

start buying nappies and keep them in stock - various sizes - that way you have a head start - same with food if you buy it.

beware of old ladies who stop you in the street saying " ohhhhh twinnnnnssss arnt they lovely " on the very day when you want to give them to the nearest stranger

twins are fab!
good luck

What ho folks, hope you've been enjoying the weather. I'm just dying for it to get wet and cold again so I can use my nipple hatstand. Heh heh!
Question to Mums of twins about prenatal movements and heartbeats. My first baby felt like a rugby scrum going on pretty much day and night in there - what can you expect from twins? Can you definitely tell one from the other? Do they interact? At 16 weeks I've just today felt my first proper boot in the belly, on the side where the midwife got a heartbeat yesterday, nothing yet from the other side. The midwife did say that it's very common to be able to hear only one twin's heart...(Yes,I KNOW it's very early days and of COURSE I'm paranoid!!)So questions are, how often did you get only one heartbeat, and what were your experiences of movement??

Have a great weekend!

Hi FatGaijin,
I have twin boys(nearly 5), while I was pregnant I could feel distinct movements from each. One was far more active than the other. Strangly, they proved to be the same when they were born, one very placid and sleeping all the time, and one very alert and constantly on the go.
I was scanned every two weeks, as they were on the same placenta, and twin 1(now called Al) always had his arms up over his head, a position he continued to adopt while sleeping after he was born !!!
Above all try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy, and enjoy your twins once their born, they are hard work in the early days, but bring such joy. Mine are so easy now, they play endlessly together, it's like they have their best mate with them all the time !!!

I'm 15 and I'm seven months pregnant with identical twin girls. I'm really really scared about giving birth and bringing them up, before you all judge me and think I'm another stupid teenage mother, I was raped and they were the result. I haven't told anyone about the kids, but my stomach isn't all that obvious if I wear the right clothes, is that right or should I be too big to hide? Is there anything in particular that I should watch for? What's in store for me after they're born?

omg elsa, that must have been very hard for you to deal with. Come and join us on the d'ya ever wonder thread here, we're mums of multiples helping keep each other sane!

I wouldn't worry too much about showing, it depends a lot on the position of the babies, some people are lucky enough to look slim for longer.

I think one of the worst things about a multiple birth is the uncertainty, at 7 months, you still don't really have a clue how they are going to be born. I had my twins by section, and it was lovely, very peaceful and calm and totally painfree!
