Hi...have only just noticed this thread

I totaaly agree with stitch..marriage is marriage and it will be recognised over here. All my bro inlaws got married in bangladesh and when their wives came over their marriage was deemed as legal over here. Its funny though coz I got married to my hubby here in an Islamic ceremony but THAT ISNT recognised by the "system" here. I have to have a civil ceremony also.

That was 3 years ago but we still havent done it yet. In Allahs eyes we are married...Im not bothered about what Tony Blair thinks
The best thing is that we are going to let our two kids reach the age of 5 and 6 and then go and get "married" abroad. Any excuse for a holiday

On the pig issue, my DD uses a miss piggy pillowcase and nobody says anything. I think that as pork is haram, some muslims think that ALL pig "stuuf" is also haram.

It is actually a sin in Islam to tell muslims that certain things, like pig toys or angels not visiting baby at night due to pig duvets, are haram without having evidence from The Qur'an or Sunnah to back it up.

Dont get me wrong ladies...Im not saying anyone here is a sinner. Please dont think that.

OMG...I have waffled on!!

EEK about the sweets - my next door neighbours are Muslim and I've often given their kids a box of sweets - I can't remember if there were ever any jellies - I had NO idea this might be a problem (in my defence I was brought up in a Catholic country and we never covered any other religions in RE). I must read threads in this section more often to find out more....

this is v interesting. dx (a drinking, pork-eating ex Muslim) once removed the pig from a farm set that we gave as a present to his brother's children, in case it would offend them.
