Just interested to know what nationalities your kids are made up of and who does your child/ren most resemble?

My son to be will have a Welsh grandmother, Irish grandfather, Scottish grandmother and N.African grandfather. Wonder who he's going to take after!

My ds2 wil be able to play football for England, Scotland, Wales or China!!!

His paternal grandfather is of Chinese origin, but dp looks Italian!!

4kids · 20/09/2005 12:08

My DP is Jamaican but his family is a right mixture both parents born in Jamaica but his mother is 1/4 white (she's very light skinned) his dad looks black but has Chinese in him . I was a bit worried how kids would look being such a mixture but Dp turned out ok he has lovely brown skin with Hazel eyes & freckles across his nose . All my kids look mixed race but my son has very light skin Blonde Afro & blue eyes.

There's Irish, Dutch, Belgian and English blood in my DD. But her nationality is Belgian even though she was born in the UK.

motherinferior · 20/09/2005 12:15

My daughters are a quarter Indian, a quarter Bangladeshi, a quarter English, an eighth Swedish and an eighth Danish.

They're blonde, having inherited the white skin I got from my Anglo/Scandinavian dad rather than my Indian mum.

I'm so jealous [green]

My kids are half English and half Irish.

That's it.

So dull.

The middle one looks the most Irish.

motherinferior · 20/09/2005 12:18

Dino, go back to work

ChaCha · 20/09/2005 13:03

Half English and Half Irish is lovely!!!! My DH is half Welsh and half Irish and he is too

Some really interesting mixes of race/colour here, thanks for sharing.

Motherinferior - I'm hoping that my kids do have a bit of their N.African grandfather's looks but I don't even take after my dad so am doubting that they will. Do you think it can skip a generation? Your kids have a lovely mix btw.

DH is Zimbabwean,
I'm British

They look more Zimbabwean than British (and sound it with their names too). But they'll only ever be able to play for England/UK as Zim doesnt' allow dual citizenship

Hi Ladies,

QoQ, I've seen a picture on the members profile of you and your DS's - you're all beautiful

Kama - Your little girl is just adorable, in fact, she is edible!!! Another gorgeous family! Remember looking at your pics ages ago in the members profiles and just thinking 'awwwwwwww'

What a great word Zimbabwean....Zim..bab..wean

Am I going mad or is it a pregnancy thing. Instead of wanting certain foods...wanting to say certain words...?

my dts are half indian half english. One looks very indian, a miniture copy of my dp. The other looks more mixed race, but i think it would be hard to identify his racial origins from looking at him.
When pg, I couldn't wait to meet them and see who they were going to take after.

Redtartanlass · 20/09/2005 13:47

Awww QofQ beautiful boys....didn't know you can see pictures

  • thanks RTL
MoggyMummy · 20/09/2005 14:16

My DS is half Indian (British) and half Danish - he is a perect blend of us both. His skin is olive, he has dark eyes and brown hair.

I think he looks more mediteranean than anything else.

PrettyCandles · 20/09/2005 14:18

I expected to 'recognise' my babies, especially if they were girls as there is a very strong family resemblance among the girls on one side of my family. So I was very disconcerted not to recognise them when they were born. Though why I should have done, I don't know - they are after all totally new people. But what I find bewildering is that my ds looks nothing like me - he is the spit and image of dh's family. It got me thinking, what must it be like for families of mixed-race children - especially for the white partner, who has to get used to, for example, having to take care of black hair, which is so different to white. We are a multi-cultural family, but in terms of religion.

motherinferior · 20/09/2005 14:28

Yes, my mum and my DP's mum both found it very difficult, I think, to have children who looked so completely unlike them. I am perpetually amazed that my two look like me.
