yes think might be a typo, was never good at decimal points, two thousand blah blah.

hercules · 08/07/2005 19:24

No, my mistake!

Hermione1 · 08/07/2005 19:26

lol it's hard because my hours vary week to week. god knows what i'll get next year, think i need to have a 3 child. it's so annying. my friend has 4 kids, her partner, who isn't father to three of them, brings home £300 a week after tax they get over £100 a week, now thats gotta be wrong surely???

nutcracker · 08/07/2005 19:28

Thats probably right Hermoine. Dp earns just over £200 a week and we have 3 kids and get a total of £114 a week wtc/ctc.

Hermione1 · 08/07/2005 19:30

how come you get wtc and ctc, and get that because thats basically what dh earns, and we have 2 kids and only get £40 something, I just don't understand it.

NomDePlume · 08/07/2005 19:31

Actually, we get nothing, zilch, nada.

Hermione1 · 08/07/2005 19:33

i wasn't meaning to sound so ungrateful, just seems unfair in some cases.

starrynight · 09/07/2005 15:36

Jessicaandbumpsmummy (long name!) We get a total of £133 which is made up of WTC & CTC but don't know how much of each.

FWIW moozoo our mortgage is about £723 a month which is also difficult to pay on dh's salary (£11K) but thank goodness for tax credits as they pay most of it.

There does seem to be discrepancies in amounts but I have no idea why.

starrynight · 09/07/2005 15:38

Hermione I think that the amount for each child is quite high so just having one extra child maybe could increase it (but I don't know by how much)

fairydust · 09/07/2005 15:47

we get £250 a week as dd is disabled and in recepit of the higher element of dla.

dh earns £25.000 a year.

sparklymieow · 09/07/2005 16:08

I get £223 a week in CTC because DS and DD1 both get hig rate DLA, no WTC as neither of us work, both carers

HereComesTrouble · 10/07/2005 15:34

Working out WTC and CTC is a nightmare, I have created myself a spreadsheet, and found that if I earn between £10200 and £27000 per year I will be worse off than I am currently surviving on benefits. So I am looking for a job on minimum wage, 'cos I know that I won't get one earning £27000.

This site www.entitledto.co.uk/under60.asp is very good at giving you a clear picture of what you are entitled to.

nutcracker · 10/07/2005 15:38

Hermoine - we get wtc too because dp's wages are crap. We only get £8 a week wtc though.

HereComesTrouble · 10/07/2005 15:49

lunavix I've just seen this conversation, but noticed that you are self employed and working over 16 hours per week. Could you not "work" 30 hours per week? Obviously you may not earn money for all those hours but the tax credits would certainly improve.

jamboure · 11/07/2005 08:56

we have income also of 27,000 per annum have 3 kids under 4 and get £51 per week child tax credit and NO working tax credit.

We dont qualify for childcare element either so pay a friend to care for our kids as we cant afford childminding fees.

So child tax credit and some goes to paying our friends

Sometimes wonder if i fcat it is worth working

expatinscotland · 11/07/2005 09:34

Yes, I wonder this as well, jamboure. Only I don't make anywhere near £27k.

TwinSetAndPearls · 11/07/2005 10:50

WE get a higher tax credit because we have a member of the household eligible for the disbled element of the tax credit - if that makes things clearer. Although the amounts people get do vary greatly so it is about as clear as mud!
