Not sure how it has been done, waiting for the bank to call me back.

OMG!
Are you ok?

NorbertDentressangle · 01/11/2008 13:31

OMG! What a nightmare.

Just don't panic, the bank will get to the bottom of it hopefully (may even be their fault).

Can you think of any times you've used your card where things didn't seem right? (eg. if cashier took card out of your sight, cashpoint machine seemed different)?

twinsetandpearls · 01/11/2008 13:32

Not really have just had a panic attack, dd was supposed to be going away to visit her stepmum and we cant take her. But we have food in and can get to work.

Don't panic!

You haven't lost your purse or been burgled?

Ivvvvyygootscaaared444 · 01/11/2008 13:33

Is this the bank that begins with L and ends in tsb?

Cos they have had major cock ups this week and sent out silly letters etc - I have just had another letter to say sorry for our major cock up

RedOnHerBeheadedHead · 01/11/2008 13:34

That's such a shock! I'm sure they will get to the bottom of it though - soon hopefully.

twinsetandpearls · 01/11/2008 13:34

No different bank.

Was out shopping yesterday, fair trade shop, art shop, tesco and smiths. But could see my card at all times. Used my card online to buy dd coat from marks.

We look as if we have been burgled but that is from the halloween party.

I have no advice, but I am sending so much calming type stuff to you if you do that kind of thing

NorbertDentressangle · 01/11/2008 13:37

There have been a few scams involving petrol stations recently (apparently due to their high-turnover of staff, easy to get a job there and carry out card cloning scam) -could be from somewhere like that?

RedOnHerBeheadedHead · 01/11/2008 13:38

i wonder if i ring the bank and tell them there's no money in there will they sort it out for me?

I can hope!

twinsetandpearls · 01/11/2008 13:38

Luckily the rent has come out and dp pays the mortgage. But have just realised how much I pay for gas and electric £130 a month.

Flame I am about as far from calm as is possible.

OP posts:
bellavita · 01/11/2008 13:38

Hope it gets sorted out for you soon twinset.

twinsetandpearls · 01/11/2008 13:38

I was only paid yesterday Red.

FlameNPumpkins · 01/11/2008 13:41

Right.

First of all - is your DH home?

As cheesy as it sounds, you need a cup of tea/coffee and pref something sugary to eat.

You need to concentrate on breathing.

Where is DD atm? Can you blow some bubbles for her? (Focusses the breathing to a steady rate)

RedOnHerBeheadedHead · 01/11/2008 13:41

they will sort it out don't worry - they will probably find it's been accessed from somewhere else in the world, as they usually sell details abroard and get used there. I just hope it doesn't take too long to sort out though. It's happened to a neighbour twice - although they weren't wiped out clean, just a few hundred each time - over little amounts £10 here and there, and then a big amount.

NorthernLurker · 01/11/2008 13:42

Did your pay definately go in?

Nagapie · 01/11/2008 13:42

What bank do you use?

twinsetandpearls · 01/11/2008 13:44

yes it has gone in as I checked yesterday. I tend to pay in petrol stations so that is a possibility.

Dp and I have had a row as I had a complete meltdown. DD is sat with dp. There could have been little amounts previously and I would not notice they are checking for me now.

usually they take little amounts to see if you notice - test the water type of thing - then they clean you out.

It should be obvious to the bank that it isn't you.

FlameNPumpkins · 01/11/2008 13:47

argh would attempting to make up make it one less thing to think about, or are you a couple who need to strop a bit and then it all blows over (we're the latter kind )

NorbertDentressangle · 01/11/2008 13:48

Heres an article on the petrol station card cloning scam

You will get your money back if its something like this

twinsetandpearls · 01/11/2008 13:50

I have come upstairs as I cant handle stress, have been a bit crap at taking my meds so am struggling with life full stop. I know ot annoys him when I loose it an get panicky.

I have asked him to take back a book and some other bits I bought yesterday so we can at least take dd to see her stepmum. But he wont and I need to cal down before going anywhere

cantbe · 01/11/2008 13:56

Ask the bank to mark you a small overdraft facility while they investigate. Unless your credit rating is really bad, they shouldn't have a problem with this and it would at least mean you can get some cash for the weekend.

It will get sorted out, but it is very stressful, I know. Try to think of it as the bank's problem, not yours.
