It's from a bailiff, I'll post it in full if anyone can help (this seems like a quiet part of the board)

I've had help from other mumsnetters. My op is here.

I can't get trough to the company and I'm scared they have taken my neighbours car.

I just don't understand the legal jargon on the letter.

AFAIK they cant take a car unless they have proof that it's yours.

Bailiffs are bastards especially the council tax bailiffs and will tell any amount of lies just to get you to pay. See http://www.whatprice.co.uk/financial/bailiff-debt-guide.html here

The seizing of the car could be a lie, tbh I would ignore it!

If you have the money to pay the council tax, I would suggest not having anything to do with the bailiffs but go down to the council offices and pay them the full amount in cash.

Then you can ring the bailiffs and arrange to pay them the charges HOWEVER please only pay the legal charges. Don't give them anything other than they are allowed to charge you (they will try to get a load of illegal charges out of you)

They are only allowed to charge you £24.50 for a first visit fee and £18.00 for a second visit. They are not allowed to charge for sending letters etc. See here

HTH
