A friend shops at Aldi and Farm Foods for family of 4 and tells me she does food shop for £60 -£75 a week.

She batch cooks a lot, uses frozen fruit and veg and not too much meat so maybe its true but it just seems so incredibly low!!

Some of my food bills have been nearer £200 in recent months so I've been feeling like I'm doing something wrong after speaking to her.

What are you spending each week?

Two adults and a small dog around £100 a week.

That’s shopping at Aldi.

Ok… so this thread is making me feel more calmer about our spending. Approx £170 a week for a family of four and one dog. Now- talk to me about flapjacks. How do people make them solid enough that you can put them in a lunchbox? Mine always fall apart and you end up needing a spoon and bowl for them 😂

@Honeyandwine you need Soupdragons famous MN flapjack recipe! It’s perfect

Around £250 per week for 5, 2 adults and 3 kids. Honestly - I need to rein it in, but I try to avoid ultra processed shite and that pushes prices up.
I should say kids have to just drink water for instance, would save £10 Pw on fancy squash, but sadly my man likes that fancy squash too so.

2 of mine are 15yo boys who eats like horses. Which pushes things up considerably

That’s what I need- a tried and tested recipe. I will try and find the recipe. If you’re here @soupdragon ! Would love to steal it.

Under £100 a week. 2 adults, one ever hungry 14 year old

This week was £76 but I spent 60 quid in Costco on laundry / cleaning / loo and kitchen rolls etc in August so don't buy those kind of things in the supermarket shop

We eat really well - i batch cook. Meat most meals, lunches for everyone etc

But it's these kind of options / changes that can make a difference.

That £50 a month of fancy squash is 60k+ in a S&S ISA over 30 years! Honestly, unless your pension is already full, future you will thank you if you can find money like this to save so that you don't have to work until you are 67.

It might sound crazy but it amazing how much money can be made and saved (and even be life-changing) by just making several small changes.
