Nationwide Fairer Share

Nationwide has announced their Fairer Share payment today. They are giving lots of members £100 each, including DP (for the first time), our two sons and me (for the 3rd or 4th time/year.

If you haven't qualified, it's too late for this year but you've got a few months to decide whether it's worth applying for accounts you don't have and juggling your money around - it doesn't take that long to research and do for £100. Though it is apparently counted as interest if you would pay tax on £100 extra interest.

It must be harder this year than last year as last year I got the money and this year i didn’t 😁. Same accounts and same (lack of regular) usage.

It’s exactly the same as last year.

If you call them they will tell you why you didn’t qualify.

Incidentally, have you been told you haven’t qualified or have you just not had a communication?

Keepoffmyartichokes · 04/06/2026 11:29

@JulietteHasAGun not getting a communication doesn't mean you didn't qualify. There are always a handful that the email didn't reach for some reason or another. There is a chat you can use to find out if you have qualified. The criteria this year is the same as last year

I haven’t had an email but I have a cash isa, a bond account and a savings account with them so am hoping I’m eligible. I got it last year. I do have a current account as well but haven’t made ten transactions a month.

I haven't had an email or a message in the app but have just received a letter, 4th June, confirming I will get it. I've no idea why they've used snail mail!

Most people get email and a letter as emails don't always get through due to various spam filters etc.

Ours came in this morning.

Apparently it was this that I didn’t get before so it’s nice that we’re both eligible for it this time. 😁

Lifestooshort71 · 10/06/2026 16:08

My payment has just arrived.

Belladog1 · 10/06/2026 16:30

Mine too. Just spent it 😄

coneyislandoldspot · 10/06/2026 16:33

Mine came today and I’ve treated myself to some new clothes 😁

Marmaladeaddict · 10/06/2026 16:42

I’m tempted to open an account. With them . Does it have to be a current account?

Current account and savings or mortgage

StarCourt · 10/06/2026 17:00

Yep mines arrived too

Jmaho · 10/06/2026 18:06

I haven't had it this time around. Had it once before. Got mortgage and current account with them but never use the current account so maybe that is why I've not had anything

You have to have used your current account in the first few months of this year with both ongoing and outgoing payments

TressiliansStone · 10/06/2026 20:28

Ker-ching here today too. Which was nice.Grin

Yes, you need a current account but it can be quite a simple account. You can keep your main one, overdraft facility etc elsewhere unless you want to move for good reason. I did that over two years ago, not just because of Fairer Share but I needed a backup account and Nationwide seemed like a practical option.

And I felt very well rewarded when DP, DS1, DS2 and 1 all learned that we would be getting our payment this year, and when it came through yesterday.

Yes, that is it. If you put a little money in the debit account and use the card to buy 3 things a week, you will fulfil that criterion easily. And the mortgage fulfils point 2, so you'll get it.
