PREMIUM BONDS MAY/JUNE 2026

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/04/2026 13:19

PB have been about since 1957
Been 30yrs (April 2024) since a million was then the highest prize

Each bond is £1. You have to buy in minimum of £25 so means 25 chances to win every purchase - years ago you could buy £1 at a time.

Odds of winning £1 million on Premium Bonds at face value with £25 bonds are

1 in 2,737,857,636 - but 2 people have to win it every month so ……

To win anything odds are 1 in 23000

So providing you have more than £100 you have better odds winning something from pb than winning the lottery 😄

And obviously far better than the lottery - you don’t lose your stake !!!!!!

https://www.saga.co.uk/money-news/premium-bonds

Bonds have to be in for a clear month before going into the draw

If you want to cash bonds in then usually takes 3 days to go into your account

Winnings can be reinvested if holdings are under £50k

This means they will go into the next months draw without losing a month

Or sent to named bank account if winnings take over FH /want winnings in bank account
More info here

www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/savings/types-of-savings/premium-bonds

The best time to buy premium bonds is on the last day of the month, as this means they are only held by NSI for one month and one day, without being entered into the prize draw.

PB to me is the fun and thrill each month of what if I win big and a millionaire - to then hoping win thousands to a day or two later being grateful if win £25😂

I have nowhere near the maximum and probably never will unless I win £50k + on pb

But only takes one £1 to win that million !!! Or in fact any prize

I love seeing the low holdings win high amounts

We've seen over the years £100 holding win a million (March 25) also a £100 holding win £100k and £50 win £25k and even £1 won £10k

Maximum is £50k per person so some do have all for family- mum dad and 2 kids so £200k etx

Those on the thread are varying from few hundred /few thousand - to 20/30k to full holdings of £50k

Everyone is welcome to join in whether small or full holdings

Obviously some people have better 'luck' than others and some worse - Ie full holdings and not winning anything a month or two or even longer

PB odds calculator below

https://pbprizes.com/calculator/

shows the interest rate of the winnings - obv anything over 3.30% is good as if in an account you wouid be taxed so be more like 3%

In August 2023, we had the highest 4.65% But it has been steadily falling since, and of April 2026 it’s 3.3 %

The consistent winners are the 1.16 million people who have the maximum £50,000.

They hold almost half of all premium bonds and, at current odds of 1/2300 can expect a monthly stream of tax-free prizes: two a month and three almost every other month, 28 or 29 a year totaling £1650 (3.3% interest on £50k)

So the median average will always be lower than the mean average.

This means that, with average luck, most people will win less than the prize rate each year, regardless of how many bonds they hold

To work out your own personal % rate
Winnings divided by amount have x 100

But many on here do have £50k and then consider moving it to an account that pays 4% if their bonds aren't doing very well as would then def get extra money

But remember savings /interest get taxed

PB and their winnings don't

So anything over 3% in winnings is considered good.

People dither whether to pull out from pb and put in high interest account if not winning anything so that they will def earn x amount of interest

But then lose the what if won a million or £100k

If you have PB but not sure if you have ever won esp if moved about a lot

you can write to NS&I

Include these details in the letter:
Current name
Current address
Premium Bond holder number& date of birth

All previous addresses where you might have registered bonds

Your signature

You can send your letter to:

NS&I

There are 2 apps afaik
Cream - prize checker and if won previous month will show a pic - which we all get excited over 😂😂😂

Blue - the app its self works but the showing early often doesn't work for me but those who reinvest their winnings say it shows if won the day before app shows 🙀🙀🙀

Seems the higher the winnings the earlier it shows and can be from 6pm the night before the app shows

And to confuse things I have a White app that is a bookmark - which shows info/list 😄😄😄

Now this has been debated on MANY times but seems to be correct

When do we find out if going to get a visit from AM 😂

The two winners of the £1million prizes will be contacted by Agent Million (AM) 😂😂 the day before the first working day of the corresponding month.

There may however be exceptions to this, such as when the first working day of the month is a bank holiday, for example.

So
AM - Day before first working day - Millionaire knock /call

LIST - First day of working month showing all winners million to £1k winners - which I always put up for those who can't find it

APP - Day after first working day , including weekends - cream app showing all winnings

You can also check to see if have won via this link with your holders number

www.nsandi.com/prize-checker

Hopefully I've covered everything
Good luck one and all 😄

£125 for me and £275 for DH, both on FH. I’ve been on a winning streak since September 2025, so happy with that.
Congrats to all the winners!

Wolfcub · Today 09:08

Congratulations WTDAC. I wouldn’t rush to tell anyone. It sounds like this will genuinely make your retirement easier, the money is for you, there is no requirement to share it.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · Today 09:12

PrioritisePleasure24 · Today 07:50

i don’t win a lot and have been seeing those messages for ages about not cashing in. It’s not new.

ok thanks, I didn't know that. I've only seen the infuriatingly chirpy 'better luck next time' message.

@WTDAC that's a very good win but can understand it's bittersweet and a bit overwhelming with your other life events. But indirectly it's a gift from your mum on your big birthday. 🤗

As posters say, just take your time to ponder it and don't rush into giving it away, especially with your redundancy situation. Sorry for your loss. 💐

TheNoWord · Today 09:12

Congratulations to the big winners, bittersweet for WTDAC but sure you will put it to good use.

Big fat zero for me and £25 for DH. We have £25k each, so a full holding between us.

Pleasealexa · Today 09:15

@WTDAC congratulations. Sorry for your loss. Grief hit us at unusual times.

I think the universe is supporting you so perhaps use some of the money to enjoy your 60th.

Notasbigasithink · Today 09:18

Hey everyone!
I obviously haven't won the million pound jackpot but do you still get notified personally if you win one of the HVPs or do you just get noticed on your account/via email or text?
I don't use any of the apps so generally wait until around the 4th of the month to find put if I've (generally not) won anything!

CornishTiger · Today 09:26

WTDAC · Today 07:51

I invested the full £50,000 after my Mum died and my siblings and I sold her house last year. Have had lots of little wins since then, a few hundred some months, and some months nothing.
Was tempted to take it out and reinvest, but never got round to it.
Checked the app at midnight last night and I've won £25,000!
Weirdly, it has made me feel really sad. I am going though a redundancy process and am about to turn 60, and this should be such a boost, but it feels odd. I can't even decide whether to tell my family, or how much to give people.

I guess it's because I would have talked about stuff like this with my Mum.😥

Congratulations @WTDAC even though it feels bittersweet Try and see it as a gift from your mum to help give you breathing space to help navigate these changes in your life.

Also I understand the sadness within joy. You miss them every day but it’s moments like this that give you an extra sadness. You just want them here to share the news with.

DaydreamerBetty · Today 09:27

@WTDAC congratulations on your big win and I’m sure your mom would be happy you have won at such a difficult time. Definitely take time to process before telling and gifting to others. 💐💕

Congrats to all who won and better luck next time to those who didn’t.

Nothing for me on £16.8k but have won £175 since January so was expecting a blank. Will have £17.8k in next months draw so 🙏 this will boost my winnings.
Nothing for DD on £1.6k 🙏 she gets a win soon but do plan to set up a DD soon for her.

Notanotherpairofsocks · Today 09:28

Congratulations to all the winners here, well done.

4th month of nothing again, really thinking of taking everything out, but leaving £1000 in and putting into isa. Last year was poor as well.

Blondeshavemorefun · Today 09:37

thornbury · Today 09:03

Congrats winners! We both have FH, nothing for either of us. Total this year £50 me, £750 him, so pretty crap really. DH's chemo side effects have massively kicked in now and we could have done with a nice win to boost the mood around here.

Sorry to hear about dh

sending gentle hugs and recovery x

I have only £2k worth but this is my 5th draw now and still nothing! I wouldn’t mind but my husband, mum, dad and sister all seem to win almost ever month!

I’ve had a similar amount nearly a year and completely nada! It’s there as an emergency fund but I’d at least like one £25 win!

Live in hope though!

HeyThereDelila · Today 10:09

£25 for DS on around £16k holding. He won £250 last month so is doing well.

Nothing for me or baby DD again; nearly £7k holding between us.

It comes through on the app (increasing value of prizes) with a note to say that PB will be in touch about the HV win. The email us simply the bog standard "you've won something" message. I think they do that for £25k upwards, but it would be less. The letter arrives within a few days, you decide how you would like to receive it & they nudge you to look at other NS&I accounts. Then you sit back and wait for their payent run to hit your chosen account. It can take up to a fortnight before the money is actually with you & you can safely spend it.

MaybeThisTimeILlbeLucky · Today 10:17

@WTDAC amazing bonus from your late mum .

Why would you give any to people if you have been made redundant !

Like others said...sit with it...thank mum ...

Perhaps open a self invested personal pension ? A sipp...if you put x in the gov adds 20%.

And or a stocks and shares ISA.

Pb should always be part of an investment strategy . Many of us here use it for our tax money or stuff like that but also hold ISAs cash and stocks ...sipps and other investment vehicles.

WimbyAce · Today 10:20

Nothing for me or the kids, we only have a few k in though.

MaybeThisTimeILlbeLucky · Today 10:20

@FabulousFreshias great win you must be thrilled !

Nothing for me this month on 7500 but ive had about 100 this year

WorriedRelative · Today 10:28

Just £50 for me this month, nothing for DH

StrongGirlsLift · Today 10:34

£50 for me on £45k, £25 for DH on £50k. We’re holding cash intended for a building project and we’re beginning to draw down now to pay bills. I was dreaming of a nice win to offset the mad cost of the house renovations, but that seems unlikely now.

Well done @WTDAC on your nice win; it’s understandable that you’d feel conflicted, but hope it provides a bit of security for you this year. And @FabulousFreshias what a nice return on your holding!

Grandmashorty · Today 10:38

3 prizes totalling £175 on FH. Have won small amounts like this each month since investing last year so I’m happy to leave them in.

elkiedee · Today 11:12

I'd looked late last night and assumed I hadn't won anything, so surprised and pleased to get another £50 - it probably keeps me slightly ahead of what I would have had on a cash savings account for another couple of months and is a boost to my savings. It's my 2nd win in 2026, my 3rd win and 4th prize in 6 months, 4th win and 5th prize since I bought my first bonds in 2024 (I had tiny holdings initially and it took just over a year to get a first win). My best month so far was December 2025 - 2 x £100).

Thank you!
I always live in hope that once the time has passed for AM to have popped by that I might still be in with a chance for a big win still 😃😃 You have revived my hope that my tiny investment of a few grand might still be in with a chance each month!

I had a similar amount and never won for over a year. I’ve upped it over a few years. I now have £4.5 k and i average one or two wins a year…(last two years previous wins value of around 4%) total) however nothing since last june/july. Im really not a lucky person with raffles/lotteries etc 😂.

Even people with full amounts won’t win every month but then some like our lovely @Blondeshavemorefun has much better luck with a lower amount. You have to be in it to win it but maybe lower your expectations a little about winning frequently the odds aren’t in your favour. However small amounts do win big prizes when you look at the high prize list. ☺️ That’s what keeps me in!

Ygraine · Today 11:25

I have won £125 (£100, £25) on a full holding.

My expectations are low, I was just hoping that over the year I would at least win one £25 ! Not monthly just once :)
