Child Maintenance has dropped from £400 to £49 per month

Long story short…
my manipulative and emotionally abusive ex has very little to do with my two boys. Sees them overnight once weekly but neither of my kids want to go.
Ex has threatened to go self employed so “he doesn’t have to pay me a penny” and lo and behold, he’s quit his job and gone self employed. He’s now only obliged to pay £7 per week, per child until tax return (April 27).
Any advice?
Also… How do I save £400 per month??? In work full time (45+ hours) and have little support. Help!

This is awful I’m so sorry. Does this man want his own actual children to not have food and clothes. Who could be so selfish.

They are both disabled

Well he can't be that disabled if he's managing to shaggy around 🤷

My ex husband did the same. I think he paid less than £1000 in all over a 6 year period.

Then had the gall to demand child support when our child lived with him for a while.

i calculated how much our child was owed by him and sent him the bill.

There’s nothing you can do except he resourceful.

Slash all unnecessary bills
Use the Olio app.
Go into the grocery stores around 18:30 for substantial reductions.
If you work in a qualifying role, get a blue light card.
If you can get a car with very low tax/insurance/fuel consumption

Does his mum know what he is doing to her grandchildren?

The grandmothers are often the worst enablers for these kind of men

I’m surprised no one has actually answered your question, which is how do you save 400 a month.

so can you detail your expenses, are you claiming all benefits, it’s hard for us to say how to save it, without knowing your income and spending habits.

Wow What a Grade A cunt. THIS is the shit that the Government needs to tackle instead of moaning about single mums and NEETS.

THEN they have the gall to wonder why the birth rate is dropping. Sorry @SingleScotsMum not much help to you except to say this makes me fume and im child free so no skin in the game

This is exactly what I say on politics threads. The amount of money on tax evasion (which then leads to them not paying for their own kids) is disgusting, and yet no political party ever goes for these men who are working cash in hand, fiddling their books so they can minimal tax and paying little child support. I’m afraid there isn’t anything you can do OP, shame on him. I certainly wouldn’t be encouraging my kids to go and spend time with a father who cares so little about their welfare if they don’t want to go. I’d tell him to take me to court and once the kids are adults, i’d tell them exactly what he did. These men disgust me. Yet apparently the problem in our country is the disabled or immigrants. Those reform voters sitting in the pubs moaning about boats coming over are costing the government far more, but are so pig ignorant and short sighted they don’t even see it.

I honestly think there needs to be a minimum payment per child for the self employed “fathers” just like minimum wage…we are in a cost of living crisis and someone cannot survive on the amount these wasters claim to earn so it’s quite obviously a lie yet CMS have no power to enforce anything. So sorry OP, play the long game and gather as much evidence of work he’s done, if he sets up a limited company ask for mandatory reconsideration to include dividend drawings.

That’s not possible unless it is so low to make no difference, due to some people being very shit at being self employed.
