Bloody Halifax and Lloyds

Have combined all our accounts..now I can see everything he is spending and vice versa
We had successfully kept money separate,I don't want all his Lloyds accounts on my Halifax account
Plus it turns out I have 6 joint accounts that have appeared on my Halifax account, that I knew nothing about ,Lloyds wouldn't let him open single accounts,so he's opened joint accounts that I know nothing about .

What?

If I'm understanding correctly (which I'm not at sure I am tbh) then your problem is "him" (whoever "he" is, assume your partner?) not Halifax or Lloyds.

Yellowsunbeam · 05/12/2025 06:51

Does this mean my single accounts with Halifax are available for him to see and have access to .
Why have they done this ,I didn't give permission

NotForTheMoneyandNotForTheApplause · 05/12/2025 06:51

Have the two banks joined together? Why are you angry with them when it sounds like you should be angry with whoever "he" is

Yellowsunbeam · 05/12/2025 06:53

I don't want his accounts on my Halifax website.we keep money separate

You will see his accounts because they are joint. He will only see accounts that are his or joint.

Same with us. When I log in I see sole, joint, mortgage and an old pension. When DH logs in, he sees joint and mortgage.

NotForTheMoneyandNotForTheApplause · 05/12/2025 06:56

Halifax doesn't know that accounts have been opened in your name that you don't know about. Id be more concerned about that

HettySunshine · 05/12/2025 06:57

Just click on the ‘customise’ button on the top right of your screen and you can remove anything you don’t want.

not sure if it will remove ‘him’ from your life, but it might be worth a go.

Why there needs to be more financial education in schools….

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 05/12/2025 06:59

Hard to tell...
while i dont love lloyds and want to slag them off...
The problem sounds like its your husband who is an untrustworthy liar with gambling / spending issues?

DarkSunrise · 05/12/2025 06:59

Halifax , Lloyds and Bank of Scotland are all different brands of LBG. It’s their new customer service thing, you can see all the products you hold across their group in any of their apps. I can see my mortgage and my bank account in my app even though they are two different brands. You can also do transfers between the accounts easily.

So if all his accounts are joint with you - you’ll see them all but he won’t see any of your personal accounts.

Be very careful though - banks not letting him have a personal account could be a red flag about his credit rating. Why does he have six accounts?

I’d be going to have a chat with the bank about the circumstances of the joint accounts being opened without your knowledge - you should at least have received emails about them I’d have though. Any paper bank statements/mail would have been address to you both?

Sesma · 05/12/2025 07:00

I spotted my Halifax Clarity card was on my Lloyds account today and though how useful as I now don't have to log into Halifax as I don't use the card very much.

AuldWeegie · 05/12/2025 07:02

DH and I each have joint and single accounts with both the Halifax and the Bank of Scotland. Both of these come under the Lloyds umbrella. I always assumed that neither of us can see each other’s single accounts.

I need to check up on this straightaway. If it’s true that he can see mine, then I’ll be shifting my single accounts to a different bank asap, making sure the new bank is not part of that group.

Sesma · 05/12/2025 07:03

How can you open a joint account that one of the people doesn't know about, I haven't ever had a joint account so maybe this is normal, is it.

No of course Lloyds aren't sharing personal accounts across families. It’s the OPs misunderstanding. She can only see these accounts because they are joint.

Sesma · 05/12/2025 07:17

There is a thread about this joining up on MSE forum, some people have very cluttered apps.

PoppyFleur · 05/12/2025 07:28

@Yellowsunbeam You are seeing the joint accounts because he has opened them in your joint names.

How ‘he’ has done this without your approval is beyond me.

You need visibility to joint accounts because you are jointly liable for any financial mismanagement. Your anger is misdirected, nothing to do with the institutions and everything to do with the ‘he’ in your life.

PoppyFleur · 05/12/2025 07:30

Never a truer sentence written.

StitchHappens · 05/12/2025 07:50

The only reason to be annoyed at Lloyds or Halifax would be them allowing him to open a joint account without you knowing, and i can't see how that would be possible.

Id have thought this would be pretty easy to do online if you have access to the other person's ID documents or they are already a customer of that bank

I don't have a joint account but have opened single accounts online without having to do any kind of ID video

How long ago? And with what bank?

Sesma · 05/12/2025 09:04

It does sound like OP's partner has opened joint accounts using OP details. I wonder how many other people will find this...

Wellstonethecrows · 05/12/2025 10:07

I must say I was really glad I saw this thread earlier this morning so I was warned when I logged into my Lloyds account - I don't use the app. I would have got an awful shock otherwise.

But I agree with pp that this has done OP a favour by alerting her to what " he" is up to.
I would be extremely upset and worried if I suddenly discovered joint accounts had been opened with my name on them without my knowledge.
