Bloody Halifax and Lloyds

Yellowsunbeam · 05/12/2025 06:49

Have combined all our accounts..now I can see everything he is spending and vice versa
We had successfully kept money separate,I don't want all his Lloyds accounts on my Halifax account
Plus it turns out I have 6 joint accounts that have appeared on my Halifax account, that I knew nothing about ,Lloyds wouldn't let him open single accounts,so he's opened joint accounts that I know nothing about .

I don't know what to think
I thought I only had the joint bank account with him
The other accounts all have money in them
I'm wondering if they are old accounts from our years together and he's kept them
I can see a car loan as well ...

Hard to tell...
while i dont love lloyds and want to slag them off...
The problem sounds like its your husband who is an untrustworthy liar with gambling / spending issues?

He never spends a single penny on himself, and has never done anything to indicate he is financially irresponsible or untrustworthy.
I suppose I need to have a conversation with him 😕

I wasnt trying to be rude or difficult... your OP was a bit unclear... hence "hard to tell"

Based on my knowledge / experience of the world*... if his credit score is good and he can manage money i dont understand why
A. He is unable to open an solo account and need a joint bank account
B. He needs multiple accounts
C. You have joint accounts opened in your name you weren't aware of (this indicates fraud)

We have 3 accounts 2 x individual 1 x joint
We had numerous saving and investment products elsewhere but if my dh had multiple accounts I'd find it weird / think something was amiss.

*I learned this week there are gaps as apparently slugs in your house crawling all over your carpets is apparently quite normal 🤢
🤣🤣🤣

Edited

It's ok ..I didn't take your message as being rude .
He's at work,so luckily we haven't had a conversation,as I would of been accusing him of all
sorts
I figured it out .. nothing untoward
Bank accounts are children's accounts, money from birthdays and Christmas over the years ,I'd obviously forgotten I'm on them
Car loan comes out of main joint account.
But I'm still not happy to have all accounts mixed in with my Halifax
I've hidden what I don't want mixed in

Absolute classic mumsnet this:

Actual situation: Mum has put some kids' birthday money in an old bank account and forgotten it.

Mumsnet poster's assumption: Dad is an untrustworthy liar with gambling issues.

🙄

Oh that's good it's sorted out and you have been able to hide some of them. One of the moans about has been that peoples apps have been very cluttered with all the accounts suddenly appearing together.

Wellstonethecrows · 05/12/2025 17:23

So I do my banking via websites not apps.
I couldn't see any way on the Lloyds site to hide my Bank of Scotland accounts.
So I've just spent 20 minutes on the phone to them and they have clarified that it's only on the app that the accounts can be hidden.

It's really annoying. I feel all the time I'm being pressurised to use banking apps. I'll just have to get used to seeing both sets of accounts .

I actually found the Lloyds website really user friendly prior to today. And the Bank of Scotland one was fine. Most annoying having a change I didn't want foisted on to me.

DH and I each have joint and single accounts with both the Halifax and the Bank of Scotland. Both of these come under the Lloyds umbrella. I always assumed that neither of us can see each other’s single accounts.

I need to check up on this straightaway. If it’s true that he can see mine, then I’ll be shifting my single accounts to a different bank asap, making sure the new bank is not part of that group.

Nobody but you can see your single accounts. Only joint accounts will show for both.

Sorry about that ..I'd obviously caused confusion, because I thought I was seeing all his accounts..
But yes on closer inspection it is just joint accounts
Sorry everyone, if I'd caused confusion or concern for others

sorry I have to laugh

Lloyds let my father move £1000 from my solo account to gift to his granddaughter

all because we had the same unusual name - fortunately my father gave me the money back but the bank wouldn't

I sent of for a cheque book some 3 years ago and they sent me a cheque book

Mrs "father first initial" Raffle

I couldn't be bothered to argue to used the cheque book and it worked anyway - but really

interesting that you went straight to assuming your husband had been sneaky and underhand. This would be the LAST thing I’d think if I was confused about accounts on my banking app. Why? Because i trust my husband! The fact you thought this was even possible screams…. Backstory!!

Frozenbiscuit5 · 06/12/2025 15:33

@Yellowsunbeam if you can see the car loan it isn't just because it's paid for out of the joint account, it'll be because you are also on the loan. Did you know the loan was taken out in your name?
