Hi everyone,r

My dad moved abroad a long time ago for work. He ended up moving there permanently and starting his company. His company went bankrupt and he spent all his savings.

He moved in with my mum (his ex wife) but the situation didn't suit them anymore so he moved out. He's back in the UK now, where I am, but he doesn't have any permanent housing and no money.

Is there any solution? He has no pension.

Thank you

He probably has a NI insurance number but has forgotten what it is. He can phone them to find out. If he hasn't paid in enough NIC's he won't be entitled to a pension. He might get pension credit. He needs to phone up and find out.

He needs to find a job.'

Daft...he is 75.

Anyway back to you OP, I would speak to Age UK and Citizen Advice to get some support and advice for your dad and work out what he is entitled to in term of benefits & pension and look at over 55 housing.

@arethereanyleftatall obviously he has to get income and housing. He cant be left to starve.

Left to starve? Like the thousands of older homeless people on our streets, ex military, victims of domestic abuse, mental health, addictions, redundancy.

There are shelters to use, many choose not to.

Have you ever experienced being in a shelter or worked with the homeless, they are not always safe places sadly and there are not enough safe sleeping places or rooms for the street homeless.

Nor are the streets. You know as well as I do that most are suffering from addiction.
