No mine has been on again today. I'm in central Scotland. I could get away with not having it on but I'm a cold person.

We've stopped putting it on auto though where there's a timer and set to 20 degrees. Mainly goes on in the morning as the house is only 17-18 degrees. It goes on for a few hours to get it up to 20 then generally doesn't go again in evening unless it's feeling cold again which sometimes it does!

I turned mine off during the warm spell in February. It has been on for a short burst on a couple of occasions since but otherwise we've been fine. The house is really well insulated and we have west facing French doors so it heats up in the early evening naturally. We are an Oodie family. It's saved us a fortune.

Why would anyone need to "switch it off"?

I just hit the "Boost" button for an hour if chilly. Is there a ceremony held for the switch off or what?

Yes I've hit Boost for 45-60mins when I've got umpteen layers on and still feel chilly. I'm still getting over whatever cold/cough/respiratory lurgy I'd had for the last few weeks and I'm asthmatic so the extra boost helps. 🌹

i need to now add to my thread I woke up at 1am teen had fire blaring so told him to turn it off and get under his duvet 🤣

My heating is never “off”. I use a thermostat and timers. If the temp drops below the temp I have chosen at various times of the day then the radiators will heat up. I haven’t noticed the radiators heat up for a while but they will come on in the middle of August if it gets cold enough.

I'm still needing mine on here and there first thing/evenings. I'm in Scotland.

mlc0 · 06/05/2024 20:17

Mines on now it's cold in my house but warm outside 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jegersur · 06/05/2024 20:19

Yes. We turned it off in March. If it’s cold after then, we just put on another layer or two.

TheChosenTwo · 06/05/2024 20:22

It never gets switched ‘off’ the thermostat is set in each room and the heating will click in if it drops below that temperature.
It’s clicked on today.

It still comes on in the morning but it was so warm here last night we turned off deciding to boost it if we feel the need. It's not been as sunny today but the house doesn't feel cold at all. I'm toying with the idea of boosting it for an hour.
