What % interest are you paying in your mortgage?

And is it fixed of variable and how long for?

Thinking that we may be paying too much? We are on 5.8% fixed for 2 years recently with the hope we can pay early. I guess we are committed to that amount now a we fixed it.

And what is the penalty if you pay early? I read that between 1 and 5 percent?

3.7 fixed for 5 years a year ago. Our Ltv is 65%.

Our penalty is currently £12k

ALLthecheeses · 07/03/2024 07:59

1.19% we have a year left of a 5 year fixed deal.

Saschka · 07/03/2024 08:00

Just fixed at 4.14% for 5 years

booktokbear · 07/03/2024 08:02

2.9% until Nov 2025. It was a five year fix when rates were better though.

QueSyrahSyrah · 07/03/2024 08:03

6.59% fixed for two years Sad We're offshore so don't have the full choice of mortgage providers.

I remember checking how much it would have been to get out of my old 5 year fixed early and it would have been about £8k.

wonderstuff · 07/03/2024 08:07

1.09% fixed until 2026. We got very lucky with when we renewed. Prior to this 5 year deal we always stuck to variable rates.

ThisHonestQuail · 07/03/2024 08:07

1.97%, fixed for 5 years in May 2022.

Think the ERC is about £6k.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 07/03/2024 08:14

0.94 until Jan 26. Pure luck that my last deal ended just before the rises.
I'm a single parent (mortgage used to be in joint names before ex had an affair) and really couldn't pay any more so I feel fortunate on one hand but also already bricking it about the future as I know they will never be that low again.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 07/03/2024 08:16

1.9 til May
we have been offered 3.8 after that.
yours does sound high.

TheFlis · 07/03/2024 08:31

We’re on 3%, we were lucky our renewal came up in September 22 just before the rates shot up again. We fixed for 10 years for stability.

greasypolemonkeyman · 07/03/2024 08:38

1.7% fixed for 5 ending in 3 years.

Itwasfinetillitwasnt · 07/03/2024 08:46

1.34% fixed till November 2026. Definitely was lucky, I fixed for 5 years will then hopefully go onto a variable till the following summer when I intend to sell and downsize without a mortgage.

GatherlyGal · 07/03/2024 08:55

3.1% fixed in Jan 23 for 5 years (but secured the rate in July 22).

aquarimum · 07/03/2024 08:56

2.4% until 2032.

gocompare · 07/03/2024 08:56

4.84 for two years.

Hoping to clear it at the end of that

Softpebbles · 07/03/2024 08:58

2.6 I think until 2032.

Meadowfinch · 07/03/2024 08:58

6.2% variable but I only have 2 years left, the monthly cost is less then £500 and the setting up fee to switch would cost more than I would save.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 07/03/2024 09:00

3.25 fixed until 2028.

We were on 2.1 before that. Mortgage isn't huge so hasn't massively impacted the cost.

PurpleCar02 · 07/03/2024 09:00

2.7% until May 2026. Hoping I can get something similar, but if not at least I won’t have nursery fees by then!

TheBirdintheCave · 07/03/2024 09:02

ALLthecheeses · 07/03/2024 07:59

1.19% we have a year left of a 5 year fixed deal.

Very similar to us. I think we're at 1.4% and it runs out next August.

We were planning on selling up at the start of next year as it was looking to be more financially viable than getting a new mortgage but we've decided to see what happens with the rates first.

Anon2190 · 07/03/2024 09:02

2.06% for 10 years. (Till 2028). 6% early repayment fee. I remember when we were on variable rate of 12% in 1990s which kept going up. So I have always fixed as long as I can even if not best value

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 07/03/2024 09:03

2.29% fixed for another 6 years. Was a 10 year fixed starting in 2020.

Was a little bit uncertain if it was the right decision, but really glad we did it now!

Overpaying too so hopefully even if interest rates don't go down much, it will still be affordable.

museumum · 07/03/2024 09:04

1.7% till 2025. Secured that thanks to Martin Lewis in late 2020 when rates started to shoot up.
