Universal credit calculation

Pls can someone help me with this

I do get UC but I took on a lot of work in the past few weeks & worked 3 jobs in one day. 2jobs at once from 8am to 5:30pm & then another night shift job 6pm to 6am Monday to Thursday & 2 jobs 8-5:30pm Friday & 1 job 7am-1pm Saturdays

UC consider my earnings from 4 Oct to 3 Nov

My total earnings this period is £3360.15

The first £631.00 of your take-home pay doesn't affect your Universal Credit monthly amount. Every £1.00 you earn in take-home pay over this amount reduces your Universal Credit by 55 pence.

Now my question is, will I be getting any UC in the next few days when due? If yes, how much will get with the above income pls

Impossible for anyone to say whether you will receive any UC or not without knowing more e.g. your age, number of eligible DC, DC1’s age, if have childcare costs, if eligible for disabled child element.

workdungeon · 02/11/2023 23:10

@BlueBrick thanks that's true I forgot to add more info
Which I will repost now

No disability element

Danikm151 · 02/11/2023 23:54

It will depend on your housing element but if you hadn’t declared it during your assessment period it won’t be considered.

have you been paid for the work you did yet? UC gets the figures from hmrc.

basic elements come to £952?
based on that and your earnings, you won’t get any UC.

sunstoked · 02/11/2023 23:58

If you log on to your UC account it usually says what you are expected to be paid and on what date - not 100% but I think it usually appears a few days before you get paid so check there first

Getoverit1965 · 03/11/2023 00:03

Work allowance is not £631of you get housing costs, it's £379.

workdungeon · 03/11/2023 00:06

@Getoverit1965 I don't understand this.

OP posts:
workdungeon · 03/11/2023 00:08

@sunstoked yes I get paid on the 10th but statement show few days before latest the 6th

I have just informed UC of housing cost & will upload documents tomorrow.

I wonder how much I will get once housing cost is considered & approved

OP posts:
Getoverit1965 · 03/11/2023 00:10

The amount of earnings that don't affect your universal credit is lower if you rent because you get help with your housing costs.

Getoverit1965 · 03/11/2023 00:12

So if you rent your potential claim amount goes up by your housing costs amount (£1000), but the amount of earnings that you can earn before it affects your claim is £379, not £631.

Danikm151 · 03/11/2023 00:16

Also depending on your LHA you may not get rent covered in full.

Babyroobs · 03/11/2023 00:19

What is the total of your UC elements - this should say on your statement ?
Then take your earnings minus the work allowance ( £631), then multiply by 0.55. This will give you the total deductions. If deductions are greater than the total of your element then you won't get any UC.

Babyroobs · 03/11/2023 00:26

Your Uc payment in the next few days will be based on your circumstances on the last day of your assessment period which is tomorrow. So if you want your rent element to be included for this month you will need to report it quickly by tomorrow. Have your rent costs been verified - so have you sent them tenancy agreement etc.? If not been verified then it's not likely to be included in time.

2strappinglads · 03/11/2023 01:46

No you won't get anything.

PinkMoscatoLover · 03/11/2023 01:50

What is your overall entitlement before any deductions? You’re more than welcome to PM me (cover up any identifying information ofc) or just post it here

chillinwithmygnomies · 03/11/2023 03:53

£3360.15 - £631 = £2729 x 0.55 = £1500.95

Using your figures the amount deducted from your claim would be £1500.95 so it depends on the overall amount you get, if your claim is higher than £1500.95 then yes would get some payment from UC, hope this helps.

workdungeon · 04/11/2023 07:16

So UC statement is out, few days earlier than expected as usual

UC says reported in come from HMRC is

£3,716.15. &

Total entitlement before deductions is
£953.32. (This is standard allowance & children)
It does not include housing element.

I am now wondering if I will even get any pay at all once they process & approve my housing element. I am entitled to 3 bed accommodation payment. Current rent is £1000.

My tenancy agreement started 1/8/23 once housing element is processed & approved, can they back date it? My income from January till September was less than half of £3,716.15 & My income will be down from now as I lost my 3rd highest paying job except if I find another 3rd job.

My local housing allowance rate is £195.62 per week. Which will be (195.62X4= 782.48 pcm)

OP posts:
Princesspollyyy · 04/11/2023 07:34

It won't be backdated, no.

trickortrickier · 04/11/2023 08:23

You can request backdating but it would have to go to a Decision Maker for late reporting. It would depend on your reasons.

MoonlightMuse · 04/11/2023 08:27

Backdating may have to go to a decision maker as you’ve reported late.
Your calculation of local housing allowance is incorrect. There aren’t 4 weeks in a month. For UC purposes, it would be £195.62 x 52 / 12= £847.68

Thejackrussellsrule · 04/11/2023 08:30

Your LHA rate is £847.68 (weekly rate X 52 ÷ 12 gives monthly).

Your work allowance will be £379 with housing costs.

You can ask for backdating, but you'll need to give a reason why you didn't report your move within your assessment period, this will then go to a Decision Maker to see if these reasons can be accepted.

BlueBrick · 04/11/2023 09:17

You wouldn’t get any UC even with the housing element. As the earning deduction will wipe out the total UC entitlement.

You may get something next month if your earnings are lower.

Babyroobs · 04/11/2023 09:59

Statement would not be up before the end of your assessment period so if housing / rent element is not on there then maybe it wasn't reported before the last day of your assessment period? Also they have to verify your rent by seeing tenancy agreement etc before they can add the element to your claim.

trickortrickier · 04/11/2023 10:43

If your tenancy started on the 1/8 you should have reported it before the AP ended on the 3/8. That was a tight deadline and the DM may have accepted good reason whilst you got all your evidence together to upload etc. However you have also missed reporting the change in AP's ending 3/9 and 3/10 and I'm not sure from what you've said that you've managed it before the 3/11 so you'll need to give a good explanation for this if you request backdating.
