What’s your credit score?

It’s just curious it’s really. Mine has significantly come down and is now 635. That seems pretty crap out of 1000. Own house outright and no debts though we do spank the credit card and it ended up closer to the limit last month than was comfortable

Credit karma’s credit score is a maximum of 710. Is yours definitely 1000 as a maximum?
they give me pointers as to what helps/ hinders my credit rating, and keeping below 25% of credit card utilisation is one things that increases the score (even if it is paid off every month)
other things it says affect it are credit limit, length of time with bank account etc

LucifersPain · 19/08/2023 18:06

I think Experian max is 1000, mine is 999

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 19/08/2023 18:10

Experian 963 out of 999

Ambi · 19/08/2023 18:12

Mine is lower than usual because I'm stoozing on 0% credit cards. I have maxed them out and put the cash in a high interest account. Should net me around £300 profit at the end.

IncompleteSenten · 19/08/2023 18:12

Mine is 994 on Experian.

What’s your credit score?
Ambi · 19/08/2023 18:17

Its 629 on Credit Karma and I think mid around 850 for Experian.

ShanghaiDiva · 19/08/2023 18:20

They can’t find me. I moved back to the uk after 25 years overseas and three years later they still have no record of me!
I own my house, have completed two tax return and still don’t seem to exist!

Badbudgeter · 19/08/2023 18:25

Mine is 641/710 which is excellent. Transunion. Definitely keeping credit cards to under 25% helps. If I go over it drops down 15 points into good.

It is silly as means you need a stupidly high credit limit for every day spending. Mines is 4k. I applied for a Tesco one for the points and they gave me a 5k limit at 10.9% which I suppose is the benefit of excellent credit rating. I always pay off in full.

Bromptotoo · 19/08/2023 18:25

Credit Karma 692/710.

Retired with occ pension but still working in second career. No debts.

Only reason I might need to borrow would be to access a discount IYKWIM - car purchase with incentive for PCP/HP and then settle at earliest opportunity.

Dumplingsinsauce · 19/08/2023 18:32

Yeah we have no reason to borrow in the near future as our next move will be done through the place we currently have and assets. But I still don’t like it much.

999/999 on Experiden

Nachtvlinder · 19/08/2023 23:43

Mine's almost 900; I have no debt and pay my bills by D/Ds (no bounces); don't use an overdraft nor credit card. How do I get 999? Do I spend on credit cards etc.?

Diyae · 19/08/2023 23:49

Makes me laugh. The number of the beast!

My Experian is 999 so the inverse.

Both were much much lower a few years ago when I was deep in debt. I've worked hard to clear it so it is satisfying to have this score - and it is satisfying to have no debt!

gogomoto · 19/08/2023 23:49

1000

AdoraBell · 19/08/2023 23:51

Mine recently went up to 606 in Experian.

Holidayvibes · 19/08/2023 23:59

625/710 trans union (good)
833/999 experian (fair)

Other than staying in the same house for electoral register for 18 months there are no other suggested factors to improve on. I have some small debt but only about 15% of my available credit. Never been late or missed a payment for absolutely anything in all my years. Not sure if using credit cards to shop or for petrol and paying off is the way to go?!

Diyae · 20/08/2023 00:04

It's probably not an issue unless you need new credit.

I did need new lines of credit, because part of my debt strategy was to get a good enough score that I was eligible for 0% cards and transfer my balance onto them. Once I'd got my existing cards down to 50% utilisation, the offers started coming in.

anotheranotheranotheranother · 20/08/2023 07:09

I have no idea but I am never going to be in a position to need it to be good anyway.

Same here. After a very hard time my score was in the red bit. It's taken me years to claw my way back up!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/08/2023 08:38

981/999 on Experian.
632/710 on Credit Karma (which I think is Transunion).
872/1000 on ClearScore, but I'm not sure which credit agency that is.

My score was much, much lower a year ago. I've put a fair amount of work into sorting it (and my general finances) since Jan 22.

PurpleFlower1983 · 20/08/2023 09:28

Mine is 999 on Experian. Not checked anywhere else.

DiaNaranja · 20/08/2023 10:08

Is Experian really accurate? I bank with NatWest and got a notification on my app to check my credit score, which I did, and it barely fell into the "good" category. They suggested that I applied for an interest free credit card to up my credit score, which I did, but they would only give me a limit of £550?! I applied anyway, and have used it to make small purchases and paid them straight off. Just did an Experian credit check and it's given me a score of 999... The only difference between the first check and second is the basically pointless credit card, and a lump sum of inheritance I came into (but I'm not sure how Experian would know about that anyway?)

Well done!

Feels good, doesn't it?

sanityisamyth · 20/08/2023 13:28

Abysmal. I'm too scared to check.
