£500 for me on just over 12k. My luckiest month so far! Absolutely amazed as I cashed in some bonds last month to put in a fixed term bond, as I hadn't been very luck with the PB this year!

PriamFarrl · 03/10/2023 01:17

£150 here on £12k

Islandsadness · 03/10/2023 05:30

Yet another measly win for me of £75 on nearly full holdings.

My winnings recently feel really low for the amount I've invested?
£75 October
£100 September
£25 August
£0 July
£100 June
£75 May

That works out as an annual return of approx 2% Confused

Braindeads · 03/10/2023 05:43

Nothing for us again on £26k. Terrible returns.

derrydee · 03/10/2023 06:06

£100 on approx £44k - really poor. @Islandsadnessmy streak is similar to yours. Never had a bigger win of even £300!

Braindeads · 03/10/2023 06:07

Looked back and we’ve won £250 over the last year on £26k. Doesn’t feel great to me!

Sallyingon · 03/10/2023 06:19

Nothing for me on £6500 this month.

InMySpareTime · 03/10/2023 06:35

Nothing again on £6k but I'm still on good average return from my win earlier in the year.

CoreopsisEverywhere · 03/10/2023 06:39

Worst month since we started in 2013

nothing at all on all three family accounts (£28,000, £16,000, £4000). Someone has always won £25 in previous draws.

MistyMorningMelons · 03/10/2023 07:03

Personally I wouldn't bother holding less than £30k in premium bonds. Either that or just a small amount you can forget about and pray to be one of those "millionaire on £250" people.

Not the £50k I wanted, but I got £175 this month. DH got £500 which covers most of his dental bill, so better than a kick up the arse. Nothing for the kids, as ever, with their measly £25 holdings Grin

DrMadelineMaxwell · 03/10/2023 07:07

50 for me on 23k.
100 for dh on FH

Rupiduti · 03/10/2023 07:10

2nd month for me. £50 first month.
£100 this month. 3k holdings. Not bad!

WobblyLondoner · 03/10/2023 07:17

£150 for me on £45k, £50 for DS on £6k. Better than zero but ...

happinessischocolate · 03/10/2023 07:23

A friend has just started buying £25 of premium bonds each month instead of spending £5 a week on the lottery. Odds of winning big are roughly the same and you get to keep your money 🤷‍♀️

People should be maxing out their tax free interest allowance before buying premium bonds, regardless of the amount.

Babygirlmum88 · 03/10/2023 07:25

£25 on FH 😭

Try telling that to any of the £25k, £50k, £100k or £1m winners from less than full holdings. Would they have achieved that from an interest account?

I hold below full holdings because the additional guaranteed interest from that money would not make any difference to my life whereas a big win will. Different people have different outlooks. Perhaps consider that before dishing out sweeping advice for what people "should" be doing.

Snowpaw · 03/10/2023 07:30

£200 for me on FH - I'm happy with that. My aim is every month that my winnings cover my hobby fees and anything else is a bonus so I'm pleased with that.

£100 for my DD on 28k not bad but not amazing.

Yep, but if you want regular "wins" then you need to hold more. It's always the lower holders who I see feeling disappointed. If you have full holdings you get "something" pretty much every month and can then complain that you aren't winning enough instead Grin

My ISAs are maxed, unfortunately. I'd dump more cash in the teen's premium bonds accounts, but they're almost 16 so will run off with my money.

LuckyHedgehog · 03/10/2023 08:06

Nothing for me this month, but £200 for DD (1 x £100 and 2 x £50) and 1 x £50 for DS.

You seem more fortunate than others maybe? I agree with a pp that sometimes the interest rates on savings are so meagre that the chance of a win is more enticing. If you can't afford full holdings you're probably not affected by tax rates on savings etc

WhatHaveIFound · 03/10/2023 08:14

£150 for me and £125 for DH this month on £40k holdings each. I'm keeping my money in for now as I enjoy the little wins.

OublietteBravo · 03/10/2023 08:19

£150 (1x £100, 2x £25) for me and £300 (1x £100, 3x £50, 2x £25) for DH (both on FH). The money is there to pay for the ongoing building work. It’ll be used before the end of the year. It’s a great place to keep the money in the short term - especially as the winnings are tax-free.

I’m new to PB’s, but at this stage I’m confident of feeling OK with the prospect of no wins with my four figures holding, at least for a year. I’d only get a small amount of interest in the best savings rate anyway, plus it’s fun to be part of this group. Even to dream of winning big is fun for me, regardless of the probability.

TwoItalianApples · 03/10/2023 08:25

Also, it's the people with FH also being disappointed and considering pulling their savings out (they never do Grin) if you scroll back. This is such a nice thread / set of threads and the comment just seems really jarring and tone deaf.

benfoldsfivefan · 03/10/2023 08:26

Sorry - I made the same point the other day, I blame insomnia!
