Expedia airlines refund

so I had BA flights to Italy for April 2020 through Expedia - and we all knew how that worked out! BA cancelled the flights and issued me flight credits through Expedia, which were meant to expire September 2023. Only meanwhile Expedia redid their website and lost any mention of my £300+ flight credits. Fortunately I had screenshots and an itinerary number. I rang Expedia. After an hour of being on hold, they said I needed to ring BA. I rang BA and they sent me back to Expedia. I then emailed Expedia to complain, both through Resolver and their complaints line. They keep telling they’ll get back to me in 72 hours…and then radio silence. I started investigating back in March and this is still not resolved.

My impression is that Expedia wants me to give up, and just let the credit expire.

I’m furious but also drowning in other life admin and work/school stuff.

Any advice out there, good Mumsnetters? Any ideas very welcome. I am determined to stop with Expedia until all of this is sorted. Aaaaargh!

How did you pay? Can you get your credit card to refund you and chase BA/Expedia as they see fit?

PriamFarrl · 09/06/2023 22:49

If I understand correctly you got credit for Expedia, not BA? In which case I’d say it’s Expedia you need to do battle with then. You might want to spend the credit on something else.

I had the exact same problem with Expedia. See my post from a few days ago.

It took me 19 hours on the phone to them to get new tickets booked. They deliberately kept cutting me off. They spun a web of lies. My proof of cancellation and resultant vouchers was a “booking” to Seattle. The website has no record of it in my account.

You unfortunately just have to keep on at it. BA can’t do anything as you booked through Expedia. What sorted things for me was to ask for the details of their legal department so your solicitor can be in touch with regards to theft and fraud.

They had several thousand pounds of our money and the credit card people said we needed to show we had tried everything to get the money back (well, to be able to use the vouchers) before they would allow a claim back on my card.

Unfortunately, apart from Trading Standards, there’s nobody to complain to. They are not ABTA bonded, only ATOL. The whole thing is a sh*t show.

Expedia - A Warning!!! | Mumsnet

I have posted previously about the perils of booking with Expedia but just wanted to highlight that people should check, double check and triple check...

Thank you everyone, I guess they are as awful as I expected! I’ll try threatening them with legal intervention 🤪
