A food bank sounds the best option to tide you over, rather than a loan.

Shanni98 · 11/04/2023 16:02

I've already rang my citizens advice, food banks ect.. but I don't have a car to get over to them so they don't know when they would be able to drop anything off x

Go to Step Change. They will.support you with setting a realistic budget.

In the meantime, use a food bank. You can get a referral from.your GP.

I posted this on another thread earlier but it might be good for you too - though it will ake a few days to earn enough to cash out via Paypal.

My recommendation for earning money is online surveys. Swagbucks are my favourite as I get £10 every 2-3 days - in addition to survey income, you get loads of tops up at the end of the month for all the days you hit your daily goal and then they give you extra points when you hit points levels called Swag Ups. you get money for searching the internet and they have competitions where you are part of a team too. When you join and earn 300 points in the first 30 days, they give you a 300 bonus.

Second favourite: You Gov as you never screen out :

yougov.co.uk/refer/5n4orle6y-iGn-xFyNEk-w/

I get £50 every 6-8 weeks.

Third Favourite:
Viewbank - they are currently running an incentive of £2.50 just for joining.

You won't make tons on this panel every week but it takes only about 30 seconds a day to answer two questions ( 12p) and about once a week you get a survey which is between 50p-£1 for 5-10 minutes.
Every few weeks you get a bigger task which is usually £5.

I have to say this is not money for zero effort
However I do them in front of the TV, on public transport , at lunch on a work day and make a few hundred each month so it is worth it.
I started them when I was on maternity leave many moon ago with two completely different panels who I ditched when I found You Gov and then Swagbucks in the last few years.
Ask for any help you want.

Call social services they will be able to refer you to someone. Surely you have a friend or family member that can give you a lift to the food bank?

Shanni98 · 11/04/2023 18:09

Thank you! Will give the surveys a go! I didn't think any actually paid out! x

They 100% do - you do have to put in the time to earn it.
This is my earnings copy and pasted from the page:
Lifetime earned: 608,629 SB
1000SB=£10 paypal so £6086.29 so far

AutisticLegoLover · 11/04/2023 19:27

@Was126orbustandmaybebust thanks for those links. Swag bucks just keeps redirecting me to other surveys that then don't load. Is that a common thing? There don't seem to be any available surveys.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 11/04/2023 19:40

Have you checked any loyalty cards for points to see if you could get £5 worth of shopping here or there?

Do you have any reward schemes with your bank account? My basic NatWest currant account does MyRewards which you trade in for gift vouchers.

AutisticLegoLover · 11/04/2023 19:54

I've made £40 in the past few days selling old clothes on vinted- is that something you could do? Not the fastest way but not slow either. Please get a referral to a food bank via your GP or HV or social
Services Flowers

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 11/04/2023 20:16

No @AutisticLegoLover not common at all.
You go onto the site, click on the answer option on the left hand side and it should list all the surveys available - when you click on one it should ask you questions and give you the points when you complete it.
You might not qualify for all of them but they should be loading at least.

AutisticLegoLover · 11/04/2023 20:20

@Was126orbustandmaybebust thank you it says we found you a better survey all the time after I answer a few questions. Very annoying!

Danikm151 · 11/04/2023 20:25

Can you not get the bus to the foodbank?
or look up your local pantry and see if there is one in your area. I got about £20 worth of stuff for £4 today.

If you have anything worth selling it’s worth trying to sell on fb marketplace.

You are not going to get any money doing surveys anytime soon. Have you tried the Olio app - lots of food being given away free in my area on there, you just need to be quick because stuff goes within minutes of being listed.

How can you not get to the food bank - bus? walk? ask for a lift?

AutisticLegoLover · 11/04/2023 20:27

@Was126orbustandmaybebust the attached is what I keep getting when I click on surveys.

Shanni98 · 11/04/2023 20:37

Thank you for all your suggestions! Honestly love this place sometime 🥰 I'm gonna have a look clear out of clothes see if I can sell some on vinted and I'm going to ring citizens advice again tomorrow and see if they can help me out in anyway, I have seen the olio app I'm going to have a browse x

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 11/04/2023 20:43

Well you are definitely in the right place @AutisticLegoLover but no I never get that - cannot remember back to when I first started but I certainly don't recall it. As you do the surveys they do learn bits about you and then send you ones you are most likely to qualify for. 🤞🏻you get one that suits soon .
Meanwhile, If you click on the link below it gives you search wins - this gives you between 4 and 24p depending on what you get - you might have to click on a few to get each win.

Hello everyone
We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circs, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

Right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board – if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away. But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask users to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong. Though, we strongly advise against parting with any cash or giving away your personal details, and if you receive a PM which makes you uneasy - report it to us and we’ll take a look.

We've compiled some useful links posted by Mumsnetters into a financial issues webguide, so that people experiencing difficulties can find all the relevant information in one place.

Sorry to hijack your thread briefly there, OP – we really hope you get it all sorted soon.
