If you recently got a re/mortgage what rate did you get

Just that really. Our fixed mortgage is coming to an end in July and we are starting to shop around for new deals. If you're about to or just re/mortgaged what interest rate did you get? Did you fix or go on tracker with fingers crossed for the future?

My friend is getting a mortgage 4.54% over 5 years .

CatchHimDerry · 09/02/2023 21:24

Tracker at the moment secured, due to start in May. 0.39 + base

My thinking was this was better option than around 6% that was available as a fix

These are now a bit lower so monitoring the situation, but think I’ll stick with tracker

FenghuangHoyan · 09/02/2023 21:28

3.46% for 5 years. I applied for it a few months ago just before they removed it. Glad they honoured it.

Hopefulfor4 · 09/02/2023 21:34

We got 4.44 over 5 years just finalising,

Ablababla · 09/02/2023 21:35

Get a rest agreed now. You can do so. Months in advance. Then if a better one comes along in six months time you can switch.

AlanisInMorissons · 09/02/2023 21:40

4.34% over five years. Rates are predicted to settle at 3.75-4% in the longer term. The SWAPS market is almost back to normal post Truss.

The days of extremely low rates are over.

Floofydawg · 09/02/2023 21:43

3.54% for a 5 year fix. Applied for it in October though.

Same. No ERC so didn't feel like a big risk compared to the 6% longterm fixes offered at the time!

Excuse my ignorance on trackers but do you stay on it for a fixed amount of time or can you just switch whenever?

3.39 for 5 years with barclays, secured about 2 months ago.

No early repayment fee so you can switch at any time.

Maryofscots · 09/02/2023 21:59

Thank you all for your responses. Seems the rates are not as bad as I was expecting. Lucky you all who secured anything under 4%!

OP posts:
Runnerduck34 · 09/02/2023 22:48

We're looking at the moment and fixed rates are all above 4%.
4.1% for 5 years and 4.59% for 2 years is lowest our broker found.
These have actually gone down slightly since base rate rise last week , our preferred option of tracker 3.85% below base rate was withdrawn just as we're putting in application so it seems very changeable market atm.
Wish we'd looked earlier!

Ikeameatballs · 09/02/2023 22:53

4.34% with my current lender and no fees whatsoever. I could have got a lower rate, I think it was 4.15% but with fees that meant it would have saved me £48 over 5 years and I didn’t think that was worth it for the hassle of going with a new lender. Just agreed this week, will review it as current deal only expiries on 31st July so will be looking in case rates fall but I think likely to be stable at around the 4% mark for a while.

RogueV · 09/02/2023 22:59

4.26% tracker finalised today to start when our current fix ends in July

TheFlis12345 · 09/02/2023 23:03

3.05 fixed for 10 years, secured in October though.

There’s usually a booking fee to secure the rate, so you’d have to take that into consideration to determine whether that’s worth doing.

personally I don’t think I would fix right now but it is a gamble.

Brunonono · 10/02/2023 06:41

Agreed tracker at 0.26% above base rate to complete in a couple of months. When we looked in January, the best fixed we could get was 5 years at 4.69% with our current lender and nothing better on the market. Sounds like some better fixed rates have been released over the last few days but we'll stick with the tracker although we've always fixed in the past.

ChimChimeny · 10/02/2023 06:43

4.35% fixed for 3 years, sorted out nearly 6 months ago & went live last week.

could have got it lower for a 5 year fix but we want to pay it off at the end of the 3 years

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 10/02/2023 06:52

Have just been offered 4.19 over 5 years by current lender. Hoping broker can get me something under 4.

Overthebow · 10/02/2023 06:56

3.9 fixed for 5 years, agreed a few months ago.

Gufo · 10/02/2023 07:02

4.8

Fixed at the wrong time but there we go. Over the life of the mortgage hopefully it's the highest we'll go, and we're lucky to have rates of 1.5 for a good while.

Still annoyed at self (and Kwasi)

IhearyouClemFandango · 10/02/2023 08:55

3.25 for 5 years. I think we secured it a few months ago but it just kicked in. Still a percent higher than we were on, but we stayed with our lender as no fees etc.

blebbleb · 10/02/2023 09:27

3.8% for 2 years but managed to fix in September just before the rates went crazy

BHRK · 10/02/2023 09:29

4.4 over five years. We plan to overpay
