Compliance interview

Hi there I have a compliance interview next week, it says “undisclosed capital” I’m not sure what it is? I do have credit cards and had a few loans (2-3k max) what else can it be?
my employer has reported my earnings wrong could this have flagged it up?
i do sell scentsy but I don’t make any money from it as I don’t sell enough. Does this count?

so anxious as I have had a child benefit check too recently, i feel like I’m doing wrong.

Capital is money you have in savings or investments or property (not the property you live in). Loans and credit cards are debts, not capital.

Are there any savings accounts you have that you didn't disclose?

Lula3210 · 29/11/2022 19:18

I opened up a Revolut account but it only has like £300 in it…

Well that's a bit odd then. It might be a mistake that hopefully can be cleared up very quickly.

Lula3210 · 29/11/2022 19:24

My work only reported I earned £54 last month, so we had to manually correct it, but I think they may have adjusted it this month so it may look like I have a lot more. could This be it? I’m terrified as I had to attend a job centre interview last week because it put me in wrong work catagory.

my anxiety is through the roof.

I had this a few times. Once was a malicious report that I had secret savings. Once was after my partner moved in and there was a person with the same surname in the same postcode area with a large amount of savings in the bank. We were called in to declare his savings (which he doesn’t have) and had to go to the bank with very few details to ask the bank to prove that he didn’t have the savings account (no details provided) that he didn’t have. Which was tricky. Apparently HMRC receive the details of all interest received and the interest reported was indicative of over 100k. You’d think they’d have the full details so they didn’t have to do this.

Lula3210 · 29/11/2022 19:33

Was it for “undisclosed capital?” Or just a compliance interview.
im currently living at home with my parents so I don’t know if it could be there income/capital that may trigger it.

my mother has same name as me and we are at same address so I’m scared they have our details mixed up.

im moving out next month into a flat with my boyfriend his earnings will stop my claim but it all looks suspicious now.

Are you on UC? If your work reported your earnings wrong you need to raise an RTI dispute for the incorrect month so that they adjust your UC correctly. If your wages came in all in one month rather than split over two, you could receive much less UC than you should have done.

Lula3210 · 29/11/2022 19:37

My work coach sent me a manual thing to fill in on the portal and I did it, so he corrected and updated it so I received the proper amount

yes mine was “undisclosed capital” , it could be a mix up with your mum, equally are you sure you’re eligible to claim what you’re claiming if you’re living with your parents?

The two examples @HippeePrincess has described would come under the category of "undisclosed capital"

From what you have said it could be that they are muddling up your mum's capital/savings with yours as you have the same name. Does your mum have savings?

I’m unsure if she has capital… she’s on PIP.

Yes I stay here with my child & I work part time

PIP isn't means-tested so it doesn't matter if she has capital or not she can still receive it.

User0610134057 · 29/11/2022 19:42

Is it with HMRC?

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 29/11/2022 19:43

Might be wise to take your mother along to the meeting or if she can't go take some evidence (with her permission of course) that it is she, not you, who has some capital. Or at the very least, that she is a separate person at the same address eg by a photocopy of something with her DOB on. Does she have a different middle name? That will help. All the above oughtn't be necessary as they shouldn't make sure stupid mistakes far too often but sadly they do. The above might make sorting out the mess much quicker, as this is probably it.

Don't worry too much though, I once had to go to an interview about Housing Benefit, the person who interviewed me was very nice and it became apparent quickly that it was a cock-up and I hadn't claimed wrongly.

RaininSummer · 29/11/2022 19:43

No need to worry if you don't actually have undisclosed capital.

You can claim benefits if you are living with your parents. You just can't claim for housing costs if you pay rent to a close relative who you live with.

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 29/11/2022 19:44

she’s on PIP

PIP is not means tested so it doesn't give any indication of what her level of capital might be.

Lula3210 · 29/11/2022 19:46

Yes with universal credits

I have a middle name she doesn’t. She isn’t fit to come with me.but I can take her passport if needed it is a telephone interview so hopefully that makes things easier

OP posts:
lookslikeabombhitit · 29/11/2022 20:01

If you started your claim during covid they are currently working through and double checking claims as they didn't do all of the checks as stringently during covid so it could just be for that? If you have no capital/ assets or they're under £16k then you'll be fine. X

Lula3210 · 29/11/2022 20:03

No I had mines open in 2019, but I did have a child in 2020 during covid so maybe that. I have no savings at all… I wish I did

OP posts:
LisaJool · 29/11/2022 20:19

If you literally have no undisclosed capital then you have nothing to worry about.

I know that but the email states, we have information to suggest, I’ll copy it in a pic…

Yes OP, but if you don't have capital, then it must be a mistake. You have nothing to worry about.
