Hi everyone, newbie here πŸ‘‹

I came across what looks like an old thread on waiting times for the β€˜New’ Child Disability Benefit in Scotland which seems to have stopped in July. I just wondered if anyone had applied recently and what the waiting times were?

I know it say 6-8 weeks BUT I also know when a teenager says they will do there room later, that could be later that day or later that year so wondering if I should take the 6-8 weeks with a pinch of salt.

My son is Autistic and was urged to apply for it.

Thank you everyone

Doneinmamma xx

Have you had an update yet @Natty123455
I completed part two on 15/09 with all evidence uploaded on the same day. Awaiting any response from SSC. When I completed part two I got told it was about an 8 week wait but then since spoke to someone else they said it's taking around six months.

Natty123455 · 11/10/2023 16:20

Hi no I spoken to someone last week. Also telling me 6 months from date applied absolute ridiculous x

Becca072011 · 11/10/2023 16:23

I suppose it will be a long anxious waiting game then. I thought with all these extra trained employees they took on things would have been done quicker 😞 x

Natty123455 · 11/10/2023 19:57

Yeah me too and I don't even have proof just letters on waiting list for assessments and they have told me will take years due to back log. But she has been reffered to school nurse and home link service x

Becca072011 · 30/10/2023 15:25

Atleast thats a step in the right direction just unfortunate it takes so long I'm in the same boat with just having letters so far.

Karleyxo · 03/11/2023 09:43

Hey has anyone else been successful yet? I originally applied in February I haven’t heard anything I have been phoning and been told it’s still awaiting a case manager! Called again this morning and the man said he can’t tell me if it’s with a case manager or not yet? So unsure why he couldn’t tell me anything but before all advisors said it’s still on a queue for case manager and can’t be given a timescale ? This has took around 9 months it’s actually terrible!

Becca072011 · 03/11/2023 12:48

I've not heard anything back yet either. It's rediculous the wait for this x

Natty123455 · 03/11/2023 14:57

Oh that's bad my sister applied in Jan time and she got an award in July a think x I'd complain 9 months is terrible x

CTDS · 03/11/2023 15:59

@Karleyxo if you look back on the last page on this thread you’ll see we applied the first week in February and it took until July for a decision. We had further evidence to submit as well which I did (you’ll also see those posts) as was advised by @BluebellsareBlue. I’m unsure if that sped it up for us but we were constantly being told it’s not with a case manager not long before our decision was made.

Oneandonly22 · 04/11/2023 16:28

I did a change of circumstances for my daughter in March this year and we just received letter today that her review has been completed.

I called them mid September for an update and the advisor stated our application would be put on escalation list as it had been over six months. I checked last week and was told it hadn’t been correctly put on the escalation sheet to be looked. The lady I was speaking with said she would raise it with her manager. From date on letter my daughter case was looked at a few days later.

My advice anyone waiting as long as we were to call and ask them to escalate it.

maw29 · 04/11/2023 16:45

It took 7 months for dd to be awarded.

Natty123455 · 08/11/2023 15:05

I actually forgot to say do 3 weeks ago I was told it was at a case manager and 1 and a half weeks ago I went online to tell them my parents were on holiday (they did a supporting letter ) due to obviously our daughter just been on waiting list for adhd assessment she is 5 and they don't Don assessment untill 6 but the waiting list is at least 1 year long anyway. But they told me it wasn't at second stage so iv been trying to get on all day and website just keeps saying I'm in a que. On the plus sleep scotland have accepted us for a Councillor so will see how thay goes and they don't discharge you untill things are better. My son has asd so I was speaking to his specialist nurse because I have no one involved she said she is a sleep Councillor for pediatric serviced and it can take way over a year to re train her sleep and we won't ger melatonin untill this is done.

On the plus home link are involved now and have re reffered me back to NVR and she is also been reffered to nurodevelopement team so fingers crossed they have enough info πŸ˜€

Becca072011 · 08/11/2023 20:10

That's confusing if it was with a case manager then that is stage two πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ have they been in contact with you to confirm your details ect as I was told that's what happens when it gets to a case manager and they will ask if there's any more information you can provide aswell when they contact you.
I'm glad you are getting some support along the way and progressing things further with your kids ☺️
We had our second appointment last Friday for ADHD and are back again in two weeks to do more assessments, not sure how long diagnosis will take from that point but the woman who we saw last week said it is looking like it's definitely ADHD diagnosis.

Natty123455 · 04/12/2023 22:22

It's now at a case manager don't know why I was told itnwas the last time.
Case manager just has a few older cases to finish off then will start on delightfuls. How long do yous think this will take for a decision πŸ€”

Natty123455 · 04/12/2023 22:25

That's good your getting somewhere my wee girl isn't 6 yet so we still have a long wait but my sons child specialist nurse said like we have a head start because she's actually on the waiting list and got accepted before she was 5. Still a nightmare the sleeping is killing me I don't know how she can function with 4 hours sleep a night I know I certainly can't!

Oorkat123 · 16/01/2024 18:26

Hey guys I am currently awaiting a decision on child disability payment called tonight and he advised a decision had been made, he couldn't tell me what it was and it had to be signed off and most likely receive a letter next week. Does anyone know timescales I should expect. I applied back in September had to provide proof of address for my son in December but nothing since. Worried its declined. My son has lung function issues, chronic asthma, allergies and psoriasis and a speech impediment. Any one have any experience like mine

BluebellsareBlue · 21/01/2024 18:07

Hey there. I'm sorry you're a bit anxious about this. Once a decision is made it is signed off by a decision team manager, that shouldn't take long maybe a day or so, the letter is then generated and they say 7 days in case of postal issues. Don't worry about it being declined, if you e added sufficient supporting information then you should get an award.
Once a decision has been made, either way, we can't say over the phone or web chat was the result of decision is, that's nothing to worry about, it's not that they aren't saying on the phone because it's bad news.

If it is bad news then you can request a redetermination, a senior client experience officer will look at the info we have and may ask you for more/request a consultation/contact you to ask some more questions (not medical questions) and they we re score the application. If you don't get the answer you're looking for get back on here and I'll see how I can help

emmaempenadas · 22/01/2024 12:15

emmaempenadas · 22/01/2024 12:15

They told me last week when I chased up ds review.

This should speed up soon, they are training other from different departments are getting hastily trained up to try and remove some of the backlog.

Also if you check the social security Scotland website they are taking on more client advisors so hopefully..... also if anyone is looking for a job please apply. The posts are dundee and Glasgow x

emmaempenadas · 28/01/2024 21:48

@BluebellsareBlue are they remote working posts?

emmaempenadas · 28/01/2024 22:09

@BluebellsareBlue

I've found the information and will be applying for a post.

BluebellsareBlue · 30/01/2024 20:57

@emmaempenadas that's fantastic!!!!! Let me know if you need a hand with anything. I've only got the mobile site so I don't think I get DM's or anything.

It's hybrid working so they are looking for one day in the office.

Bambi1609 · 21/04/2024 13:45

Back again. Finally applied for youngest today - I'm not sure if anyone was here when we were in the waiting stages for eldest.
Been meaning to get round to it for months but as you all know it's such a daunting prospect and a very emotional form to complete.

I had a quick nosy but obviously thread hasn't been active for a couple of months, does anyone have any experience of what the current wait times are like for new applications?
We still have one supporting letter we are waiting on but will send that over to them once we have it.

Bambi1609 · 22/05/2024 12:26

I've had a message and email through to say that the team are reviewing the application
Does this mean it's with case manager? I don't remember getting that update the first time around, have changed back the emails from before to see if I could use that as a base to judge on but nothing lol.

Just seems very quick to hear something!
