Scottish Child Disability Benefit

Hi everyone, newbie here 👋

I came across what looks like an old thread on waiting times for the ‘New’ Child Disability Benefit in Scotland which seems to have stopped in July. I just wondered if anyone had applied recently and what the waiting times were?

I know it say 6-8 weeks BUT I also know when a teenager says they will do there room later, that could be later that day or later that year so wondering if I should take the 6-8 weeks with a pinch of salt.

My son is Autistic and was urged to apply for it.

That must be so frustrating! When did they tell you that you were in final stage? Were you asked to send over anything or provide any more information? Hopefully won't be long until you find out!

Sorry to double post but to update on mine - I was on webchat this morning and was told that my decision had been made that morning and letter was generated ready for posting out so hopefully not too long until i know one way or another

It really is.. Frustrating!........ I was told 2 weeks before Christmas... I'm fed up of calling and Web chat.. Tried to get through today. But still on hold after a hr... Just hoping I'll hear something soon x

I've not had my letter but the back payment arrived in my account this morning. (Timeline-ish 22/8 applied, 21/12 case manager phoned asking about nights, 28/12 was told it had gone to final stage 4/1 was told that decision had been made that morning 10/1 money in account)

Gd morning.. Was told in final stages... Then was told to keep an eye on bank..... Then was told in stage 2 health assessment.. This is all. In Web chat.. Think might call this time don't know what's going on I know there back logged but wow this is taken a long time.... Glad u got yours ☺️ xx

Just an update from me - I have asked if application has been assigned to case manager (application submitted October) and it hasn’t. They could not give me time scales and they could not tell me where what month they are on in the backlog 😔**

I applied in August, wasn't with the case manager until December but once it was it was a really quick turnaround I found so fingers crossed. I did add in supporting statement from support worker not long before it was assigned which seemed to be the bump it needed (previously I had given as much detail as I could and details of who they could contact but the actual statement seems to be what got it moving again. That could just be a timing coincidence though)

I applied end of august start of September got a call in December to advise be another 12 weeks.
I done webchat this morning to ask for an update and they said it had moved to stage 2 of 2 on 1st November and the time frame from then is roughly 3/4 months...so still a good wait ahead of me :(
Hope the timeframes help others waiting it out.

Juat update on my daughters application.. I called social security today and said that I have another month to wait for a descion.. But if goes through it will be backdated completely.. Which is a silver lining.. So just waiting game... Now....

Just a quick update for anyone following my case was allocated to a decision manager yesterday...hopefully won't be long.

Update today had phone call just to ask about my daughters routine.. Now in descion now to except a letter soon... So hopefully fingers crossed She was really nice and apologised as its been a long wait... Since May!.. She said the are so back logged.. Hope this helps..xx

Hopefully not much longer to wait and it'll be a fairly decent backpayment which I always find softens the blow a bit

Morning quick update according to webchat this morning a decision was finalised yesterday and letter issued he said he couldn't give me specifics but a backdated payment was due the 24th 🥹 what a wait but I'm so relieved. I hope you all get the answers you all deserve to give our littles the best opportunities.

Just update from me we got decision 3 days ago and backdated payment from May in account today.... Very emotional. So please we were awarded... X
