My washing machine has died, I haven't bought one in 7 years, any recommendations?

I would like something with a decent energy rating which won't cost the Earth

We can see this thread is a bit old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best washing machine page with lots of great budget and energy efficient options loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

We bought a Candy machine which is excellent - EU market. 10 year warranty, washes great and great rating. Was around £370 I think. You could look at reviews on John Lewis or Appliances Direct. My mum has had Bosch for years as has my friend and both rate highly. More expensive.

I've got a Samsung. I highly recommend especially as when the previous one died just out of warranty they came and looked at it for free and then replaced it for a more expensive model as they couldn't ascertain if it was my fault or a manufacturers fault.

Miele. Paid £519 2 years ago. 5 year warranty. Best one I've ever had.

We have a Bosch Washing Machine which is nearly ten years old and is on most days. Bosch Washing Machines are more expensive than some brands but it has been good in terms of energy efficiency and reliability.

They're all so expensive. Is it worth investing more to have an A or B rated?

We need to get an integrated machine

Miele . First one I’ve had, had it for six years now, with a 10 year warranty. It’s brilliant as is the separate tumble dryer. Worth the extra cost imo.

somewhereovertherain · 01/09/2022 16:06

ours is bosch - definitely worth getting as low energy use as possible.

LaQuern · 01/09/2022 16:20

If you can stretch to a Bosch it will serve you well.

Mine is used most days and I forget how long I've had it, but it must be at least five years old

We have a Siemens one, A+++ rating, which came with a 5 year warranty. Was mid range in terms of price and with cashback. We did have to make a claim under the warranty (due to being in a really hard water area, not an in built fault with the machine) and they were really helpful and didn't attempt to charge me for either labour or parts despite the fact that they probably could have done.

YouBoggleMyMind · 01/09/2022 22:18

We also have a Bosch

Pixiedust1234 · 01/09/2022 22:35

We have a Samsung one as well. Cant remember if we got it from argos or ao. I do regret not getting the 1600 spin though Sad

Currently have an AEG which I love but would definitely say Miele is the best, not just for energy efficiency but durability.
