I can't cope

Hate to sound really moany and depressed but i feel like im going to have a stroke at any moment.
Im under an immense amount of emotional strain on my own and i cant get myself out of a hole.
I have spent all morning coming to arrangements for lower bills and have fought to pay the minimal ammounts. This is what i end up with
£71.00 per week bills
I recieve £110 per week

So i have to live off 39.00 a week. Can it be done. I feel like giving bloody up. I can't give my kids anything, and christmas is nearly seeing me off. I'm starting to get scared now that i will always live like this and it is getting so so tough. Sorry, im just loosing it a bit. Need to rant.

FF, if you drop out of this course now it won't make any diff to you getting in next year, will it? You can still go based on what you did before?

SantaFio2 · 26/11/2004 17:31

i just think it will be hard for you to work with ds being not at school yet and all your bills would increase significantly again. You would have to get a well paid job and I know they dont come along that easily

I really wish things would get easier for you but I think you need to concentrate on getting into uni in spetember and not selling yourself short. If you dont aim to get, you may never do it and regret that. It is really easy to get back into 'some' work and then think oh I am destined to do this forever iykwim

Dont put too much pressure on yourself about christmas. Your boys will get presents off other people and I am sure you could get some 2nd hand stuff or people you know (us) can sort some things out for you.

i was just wondering if anyone knew of some tax free incomes you could do without affecting your benefits that would give you a bit more money?

fairyfly · 26/11/2004 17:33

Im going to ring the tutor again and show her how much i want to do it. She told me that studying now really heloed my case as it shows i can still do it. she doesn't like taking people who have done nothing for a long time

WnR, you can email me on holden_jan at hotmail dot com (it's already on MN in various places so I don't mind putting it here again) and I will pass your address on to her (and vv).

Piffle is a kiwi treasure and will be thrilled that her name is one of your favourite words!

JanH · 26/11/2004 20:16

Or you can just email her direct!

Hi Fairyfly

I really feel for you as I've been in the position of my income only just covering my outgoings. I can remember Christmas being really hard as I just couldn't afford presents, and all I could see was other people spending loads. It is extremely wearing having to count the pennies.

Try looking in charity shops for presents. You can get some really good stuff and very often new things. (DD came home from hospital in a brand new Next jacket that cost me 29p).

Sorry I cant help any more than that.

... and to Wig & Robe - what a star!

fairyfly · 27/11/2004 10:33

I think the problem is i am a spoilt cow at heart. I have 39 pounds to live off and i go to my local shop and by seabass. Need to start economy shopping. I flick through the pages of vogue and gasp at the beuty of a handbag. I then bollock myself for being such an unsuccessful bitch. Hense the low self esteem. I cannot believe im thirty and this is what i ammount to. I also have a masters in self pity these days and want to slap myself.
On a happier note, just went upstairs and my childrens rooms were immaculate. Jaw wide open i asked what on earth have you been doing. Reply; we wanted to make you happy. Priceless.
