I can't cope

Hate to sound really moany and depressed but i feel like im going to have a stroke at any moment.
Im under an immense amount of emotional strain on my own and i cant get myself out of a hole.
I have spent all morning coming to arrangements for lower bills and have fought to pay the minimal ammounts. This is what i end up with
£71.00 per week bills
I recieve £110 per week

So i have to live off 39.00 a week. Can it be done. I feel like giving bloody up. I can't give my kids anything, and christmas is nearly seeing me off. I'm starting to get scared now that i will always live like this and it is getting so so tough. Sorry, im just loosing it a bit. Need to rant.

WWW thanks your a sweetie, they set the metre only last month though, so im not that optimistic.
I begged tv, license to put it down this morning, they honestly said i would have to go to court to achieve that. I'm not. ive just been and it will send me over the edge

FF - really sympathise as it's horrible when you know you haven't the money to last you however long you need it, and although i am with dp and he works we are also strugling alot at the mo, so much so that i'm thinking that acceprting this house was a big mistake as we just cannot afford it.

Could you get a job ??? Not saying you should, but just wondering as my friend with 2 kids did and she was better off (only slightly).

ff, you have nothing to lose by letting me try. Go on sweetie, I have some time this afternoon. If they won't budge, they won't but it's surely worth a go?

WideWebWitch · 26/11/2004 13:21

codswallop · 26/11/2004 14:24

ff is htere no chance of work?
how old is your youngest
and is there no chance of money form ex or more benfits?

MummyToSteven · 26/11/2004 14:26

ff - if work is a possibility then tax credits bump your money up to a certain amount if you work a certain number of hours per week - essbee knows about tax credits IIRC

nasa · 26/11/2004 14:29

ff - so sorry to hear this. think www and w&R have given some useful advice. I'm afraid I cant' help much on the advice front but would you accept some stocking fillers for your boys? DS (3) got loads of stuff at his recent birthday and there is no way he can play with it all - so I put it away - more than happy for you to have it.

Cods - her boys are 3 and 5

WigandRobe, are you still around? Is it correct that Criminal Injuries Compensation is paid by the perpetrator and not out of some anonymous fund?

ff, like others have said it is a matter of negotiating. I am surprised CAB have not been more helpful. Can I suggest that you look around for a charity that may help you with a grant. Sometimes there are local charities that will help people in hardship by paying their telephone bill (or whatever) or other charities that will help i.e if you were once a grocer (or member of the forces etc.,). There will be a directory of these in the local library and the CAB.

Good luck.

JanH · 26/11/2004 15:19

winnie, it's OK, CAB weren't unhelpful, she hasn't been to them yet! Her local one appears to be closed this afternoon (didn't answer the phone anyway) so she's going on Monday with a bit of luck.

winnie1 · 26/11/2004 15:38

JanH, that is what happens when one skimreads

codswallop · 26/11/2004 15:46

yews stocking fillers also given from here

fairyfly · 26/11/2004 15:46

Thanks everyone, the thing about working is dropping out of college. I'm weighing that up now and i think i will go that route actually.
Thanks Nasa for your kind thought. They honestly have plenty of toys. Lovely of you x
Going to cab onext week spoke to them on the phone. I cant actually see a way around it. Tips on learning to live on a small amount greatly recieved.
