How much is your weekly food shop ?

Have I gone mad or is food shopping a lot more expensive?

Pre covid I was doing a weekly shop for 4 of us at about £ 100 ( including by cleaning & basic ) toiletries. That was at usually Aldi or Lidl.
i switched to online delivery during lockdown and now use Ocado. Kids are both teenagers and eat loads - both me and DH WFH these days so don't get lunch or coffees out so much. But all the same, not sure I'm being tight or this what things cost now. I do buy good quality food, as I cook from scratch/ fresh most of the time ... attempting to keep us all healthy !

What do you budget a week for 4 ?

We spend about £100 a week on the weekly shop and then I do a top up shop in the week and spend £15-20. This is for 2 adults, 2 kids. Our weekly shop used to be about £70 2/3 years ago.

We spend around £100 weekly (2 adults and 1 teen). We cook from scratch, eat generally well and we don't drink any alcohol.Until few months ago I was able to keep it around £80 per week...not anymore,it doesn't matter how much I try! We used to shop mainly at Lidl with a top up from Sainsburys and Waitrose. Now we mainly shop at Sainsburys with a top up from Waitrose and Aldi for a few things.I found that I wasn't saving any money at Lidl anymore compared to Sainsburys .

If you’re comparing ocado to aldi of course your monthly bill will go up regardless of price trends..!

We don’t get around to doing a weekly shop atm I probably do 1-2 big shop at Aldi and then we top up with Tesco or waitrose as it’s convenient, 2 adults 3 kids I would say we spend around £120 a week, no booze or pet food, used to be couple of years ago I budgeted £80 for 2 adults and 2 kids and that was shopping at Aldi weekly.
