When is the draw?

bigbluebus · 19/01/2022 16:21

DH has had his in the draw for 3 months now. Month 1 - £25. Month 2 - nothing. Months 3 - 2 x £25 . He's got the max holding.

Eaumyword · 19/01/2022 17:34

Am I right in thinking that it is back to 31st millionaire visit/call, 1st big winners, 2nd everyone else?

Chewbecca · 20/01/2022 14:58

Just went through the list of wins last year worked out I received about 1.3% return in 2021 on my p bonds. Quite happy with that, it’s more than the 1% payout and more than I would get in a regular savings account. With a chance of a big win thrown in!

Believe millionaire visit is back to 31Jan this month.

mogkat · 20/01/2022 15:47

I got bought £50 worth of bonds when I was born in 1985 and have never won a single penny Confused

I keep thinking about buying £50 for my son in PB rather than more toys as he has some Christmas money but I wonder if it's worth it?
His junior savings account interest rate is pretty much zilch!

LondonQueen · 21/01/2022 18:48

Finally accessed my old account I had set up for me as a child! Marking my place and hoping for a nice win come February.

fedup078 · 21/01/2022 20:05

@mogkat
I was looking into junior isa's as you can get some that are paying 2.4% at the moment
Pb I'd say are only really worth it for over £20k and even then you'll not win most months

Rodedooda · 21/01/2022 20:21

Do those of you that have full holdings have no mortgage, and have maxed out annual isas & pension contributions?

(I don't know if I want to know the answer Grin)

I am planning to max out in the next couple of months.

Paid mortgage off several years ago, contributing lots to pensions so this is the money we would have kept in savings (if the interest rate wasn't so poor) which will fund the time between retiring and pension age so it needs to be accessible.

BreakingUpWithMyPhone · 22/01/2022 19:30

We've got about full holdings in total, but still have some mortgage left to pay off etc. We probably need to do some work on the house at some point, so we want to have accessible cash for that.

I have full holding in PB. I also have a mortgage of £400k, and not a lot of other savings (a few £'000 in stocks). I like to have the PB as quick access cash if I need it, and now I have full holdings I am using my additional monthly income to pay off mortgage. Mortgage rate is 0.89% so I like having the £50k in PB hoping I will win big one day!!

My PBs are part of an inheritance left to me by my DH and I'm planning to use it as part of our deposit when we hopefully move house this year. I could have used it to pay down the mortgage but wanted to keep it handy as I'm a full time student and we have had a lot of bad luck with things going wrong in this house.
InTheCludgie · 23/01/2022 13:10

Sorry I meant my DF not my DH! DH is still very much here Blush

I had an endowment mature early (from an old interest only mortgage) so it’s sitting safe in PBs as I can only pay off 10% of my current mortgage a year

Can I get excited yet for Feb draw

OP posts:
h0rsewithn0name · 29/01/2022 09:16

I'm in! Fortunately I'm at home all day on Monday, so I won't miss the knock.

No. I use premium bonds to hold money I’m going to need in the short term (say 1-3 years). I’m remodelling the house this year, so I won’t have full holdings for much longer.
OublietteBravo · 29/01/2022 10:51

I am maxed out on pension contributions though.

Chewbecca · 29/01/2022 11:04

Like others, I use PB as my instant access savings account. My balance has got bigger than intended over the last couple of years though due to lack of holidays and being one of the covid WFHers who earned the same but spent less.
My return last year was 1.3% so better than an average savings account but worse than my ISAs.

I love the excitement though, DH and I at the stage now where £1m is the perfect amount for both of us to quit our jobs immediately which we are very ready for! So, yeah, my ears will be pricked all day on Monday.

RockaLock · 30/01/2022 09:49

Definitely time to get excited for the Feb draw now!

DH is such a killjoy though. Every month he's always all "don't get your hopes up, Rock, we're never going to win".

Yes, DH, I know we won't winHmm

But if I can't let myself have a few "what if we won?!?" daydreams every month, then we might as well just stick all the money in an instant access savings account instead!

forcedfun · 30/01/2022 09:53

Last day before I find out I'm a millionaire Grin

forcedfun · 30/01/2022 09:53

My PB are in there while we plan the work we want to do to the house. I'll be sad when they are all spent!

Eaumyword · 30/01/2022 11:36

So excited for tomorrow! We're all out of the house though so what to do..?! Hoping for a phone call Grin

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 30/01/2022 15:05

I like to identify my £800k to £900k house at around this time of the month. There aren’t any for sale right now that I like, which MUST mean it’s my turn to win this month, right?
