NHS staff - are you disappointed with your back pay?

Well I realised the back pay from April for our pay rise wouldn't amount to much but I've just opened my payslip and my take home pay is actually £100 less than last month Hmm. Combination of increased NI and pension arrears.

I'm a band 2 (Scotland) and i got about £350 in back pay in my wage.
Band 5's were saying they got very little in comparison

MissyB1 · 27/09/2021 14:56

Yep somehow Dh managed to bring home less than normal!! 🤔😡

ToastieSnowy · 27/09/2021 15:21

Band 5. I received £279 extra in take home pay.

Pieceofpurplesky · 27/09/2021 15:24

Not NHS but just wanted to say you all deserve so much more after the last couple of years.

CleanthehouW · 27/09/2021 20:54

Very disappointment.
Part time band 3, about £60 extra due to pension arrears

I'm band 5 and I only got about £120 extra so that's disappointing. How did some of you get so much more?

Medstudent12 · 27/09/2021 21:04

Junior doctor. We don't get the pay rise.

Pebbledashery · 27/09/2021 21:09

I'm a band 5 and got an extra £165 Confused

clary · 27/09/2021 21:16

Oh my maths is terrible. No actually I misremembered the figure, I actually got about £280 like others :)

clary · 27/09/2021 21:18

Funnily enough I queried it with my boss as I got a bank alert this morning and he said oh crikey, we were supposed to send out a message about that (comms team) - can you do it please Grin we're on the ball!

Peachyqueen · 27/09/2021 21:20

Very. PT Band 3 at top of the band. Got an extra £20. Yay me. Hmm

BabbleBee · 27/09/2021 21:22

Band 5. Wages were less than usual thanks to tax / NI / pension.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 27/09/2021 21:27

I got £500 I'm band 6.

AsymQuestion · 25/10/2021 15:56

Band 3, about £160 in pay rise arrears and then following month £130 pension arrears taken out, with an additional £20 being taken a month on pension after being bumped up a band. So, £10 in terms of accessible pay. Absolutely disgraceful. I'm sure we'd be told we should be 'thankful' by many. Nope. We are already massively underpaid for the absolute stress and extreme workload/pressure and for what, in my case, a couple of quid over minimum wage.

LakieLady · 25/10/2021 19:44

You all deserve so much more.

I had knee surgery the other week, and then had to visit A&E a couple of days after discharge, and I am in awe of what you all do, with such good grace, and in such challenging circumstances.

Alwayswantedasmegf · 25/10/2021 19:56

I got around £130 back. I'm part time so wasn't bad.

3cats4poniesandababy · 25/10/2021 19:56

Not saying NHS staff don't deserve a pay rise but maybe also take a moment to remember many people have lost their jobs due to covid or are still recovering from the stress and financial burden of furlough.

Standrewsschool · 25/10/2021 20:12

Doctors surgery - no pay rise

Theres a shortage of staff in the nhs, maybe they should work here?

NMW goes up around 7% next year. Fab. We get 3. After the shit we’ve been through.

CosmicComfort · 25/10/2021 20:31

My pay rise was a bit of a non event. It mostly went in Tax, NI and pension arrears. I’m Band 6.

It has been a hellish 18 months to be frontline NHS but I wasn’t expecting much so wasn’t disappointed🤷‍♀️🤣

addictedtotheflats · 25/10/2021 21:20

Band 7 and I got £650 but that included unsocial hours and overtime arrears.

This is wrong. Many things are unfair in life. Doesn't mean you should suggest this though. Personally I worked on a covid ward and it was horrific nobody knew what they were doing, staff were crying arguing and leaving. Honestly it was so bad on the covid wards in the beginning. Not to mention the risk we were at.

I don't want to say I don't care about others but.. apply for NHS if you think it's so wonderful

worcestersauce29 · 26/10/2021 00:55

I'm not disappointed because I understand how NHS pay-scales and deductions work.

Casamilano · 27/10/2021 15:24

Expected very little, received very little. And my PAYE code has mysteriously changed to BR.
