Need new bedroom but can't move

Hi there. Have a real dilemma in that we have a three bed with three small rooms. The two same sex kids can't share a room as big age gap but the room is also too small to divide. We can't get a remortgage or loan at present but my son desperately needs a bedroom of his own. What can we do? We have equity in the house- would the council offer us something?

I think you should just be bloody grateful you have a home. Many, many, many kids share rooms.. Unfortunately you just have to make do.
You don't seem to understand how Council housing works. They have priority groups of people who are vulnerable, homeless, or in unsafe housing options.. You made the choice to have 3 children, it's got nothing to do with the fact you've been a tax payer for years... You wouldn't even touch the priority housing list because you own a home. It's quite ignorant of of you to think otherwise.

@lostitall hopefully the financial advisor appointment will open up possibilities for you. I have a small 2 bed house, and 2 DC. I decided that each child should get their own room, whilst I have a sofa bed in living room. It’s not ideal, but it’s the best solution I have right now given finances. It’s not as bad as it sounds, and only takes a minute to pack away once my bedding has aired in the morning. Hope you find a workable solution for your family soon.

I’m confused why you think the council would help?! I’m in a 3 bed council house with FOUR kids and that’s all I’m entitled to. 3 beds. So why don’t you think the council would give you more?
