Rent help on uc

Hello everyone, may I ask a question please? My daughters boyfriend has just split up with her, and is packing his stuff to move out today, so now she’s on her own! She’s just made a single uc claim, but I was wondering if she had to specifically ask if there’s any help she can get with the rent, or is it automatically looked into? They’ve said they’ll tell her how much she’ll be getting paid on the 24th Feb, and her payment will be made on the 28th of Feb. She’s a care worker, and works about 35 hours a week at the mo. We have no idea how much she’ll be entitled to if any. So worried about her.

@AandD

She has house ferrets as pets, snd they are her babies, so she really wants to stay where she is, but we just don’t know what help she’ll get, maybe not much by the looks of it. We have no room at our house, as I have 2 little boys with my fiancé, another daughter, and my fiancé has his 2 children, and we’re in a 3 bedroom house, and using the downstairs living room as our bedroom, so literally have no room! I’m so worried.
I really think you have let your DD down here. You have taken on 2 extra children of your fiance, as well as adding 2 more children in that relationship, and having 2 children of your own already. Your DD clearly needs support from your latest posts and you're unable to give it because you've added 4 more children to the family without the room to house them.

Blimey Lougle. You really know how to rub salt in the wound when op is already desperately worried about her daughters !!

I'm not rubbing salt into a wound, I'm saying that when people point out that the daughter might have to move back home, the OP is saying that she has no room for her. She's only just an adult and if she has medical needs, that makes things even harder for her.

I see what Lougle is saying. Before meeting this man OP was in a 3 bed with 2 daughters. Now she has 6 kids and unable to support her daughter as much as she would like. Sadly UC won’t support her either as a young person without dependents.

I mean, I’m not an arsehole, she’s welcome to sleep on the sofa. My eldest and lovely partner contacted her today, and said how about they look for a house together, as they’re both care workers working with the same company. She said she appreciated it, but she’d be fine. I thought it was an excellent idea, and very kind. I can’t really see how she will be fine on her own money wise, but I guess we’ll wait and see.

That sounds like a good idea. All you can do is wait and see if she manages or if she accepts the offer.
