This. I follow a makeup bot. She did a live the other day with her 'newest recruit'. He's a clearly very vulnerable man in his 60s who she has persuaded to sign up to selling cosmetics. His timeline is full of inspirational memes and copied and pasted posts saying 'Hey ladies, don't we all want to get brows on fleek?' 'I love pampering myself with a new primer!' And how he will be rich soon due to this amazing opportunity. No responses. He keeps showing his deliveries of horrible make up and shit quality brushes yet at the same time doing offers to clear the 'loads of stock' he's got left over from a previous MLM

The live was a dual screen of her teaching him how to apply contouring sticks and lipstick. He can't see without his specs so the end result is a clown like disaster. Yet there's hundreds of gushing hun posts telling him he looks amazing.

There's other lives of him applying blue and purple eyeshadow and bright pink lipstick much in the way a 6 year who's raided a make up bag would. Again loads of huns gushing 'well done teamie' and 'you look great' and 'these products are such great quality'. Total and utter gaslighting. Only one hun is clearly horrified and responds with genuine comments 'don't pull the skin on your eyes to apply shadow..please don't lick the brush before using on your eyes...don't scrub at the shadow...try and keep in your lip line.. you need to blend your blusher more love!'

I don't think I've seen a worse example of exploitation. It's awful.

I have said it before, how on earth is every other industry regulated within an inch of its life, yet this industry gets away with a self-appointed, light touch 'regulator'.

If any other business ran this way, they would have to answer to

• HMRC - income claims, tax evasion statements, VAT issues, illegal raffles
• ICO - holding client’s data from company to company, showing people’s names and numbers on Insta stories etc
• ASA - Spurious health claims, income claims etc

I just do not see how they get a free pass, to play shop, take people’s money, and not have to worry about any of the above.

Imagine asking a BOT where her company GDPR compliance procedures are.

I have said before, it is an insult to the many women, who genuinely start and create a unique and successful business, to have these women claim they are CEO's (which in itself is BS, as they clearly do not have a BOD to report to)
