Not including food shopping,so just money on treats for yourself or a coffee and cake etc
I spend about £100 a week which I'm not sure is a bit too much.
How much do you spend ?

Just on treats? And just for myself?
I dont think I spend anything.
Maybe every couple of months or less. But very little. This doesnt include a takeaway.

Or maybe when at the supermarket buy a cake? Not sure if that counts.
I dont drink coffee though.

Littlemissnutcracker · 04/12/2020 10:52

Probably 100. Mainly on stuff for the house - we are renovating. Gel nails. Sandwiches/coffee. Some weeks nothing but other weeks I do treat myself.

gassylady · 04/12/2020 10:54

I do spend £50 a week on personal trainer sessions perhaps a book or some fabric each month. I don’t spend anything on coffee as I don’t like it. £100 sounds like an awful lot to me. But if you value it perhaps a chance to sit in peace and can afford it why be concerned 🤷‍♀️ But if you have debts, no savings or pension then yes it really sounds like a lot.

Love51 · 04/12/2020 10:58

In lockdown? I WFH now, so not a lot. Food comes from the cupboard / fridge. I went for a walk last Saturday and my friend and I got a takeaway tea! I bought a tiny bottle of wine to drink on a zoom social.
I'm not usually this frugal, I have swimming pool membership which was paused for lockdown, that's £5 a week. I buy kindle books as and when, or get them from charity shop / library / bookshop. I buy clothes but not every week, just as I need to. I dress up a lot less with the 2020 lifestyle.
I tend to spend not a lot week by week then have a blowout every couple of months.
Petrol used to be a big expense, not any more!

ssd · 04/12/2020 11:00

On just me?
Probably a fiver.

Manteo · 04/12/2020 11:08

Are we including clothes, make up etc? If so far too much recently. If you just mean coffee, cake, magazines, etc while out and about... hardly anything.

Love51 · 04/12/2020 11:10

Oh, stuff for the house counts? More then! A fiver on Xmas decorations / craft stuff (I had filed that under kids stuff in my mind!)

In normal times I like to get a massage probably every 6 weeks. Works out around £7 a week. A lot less if I can get in at the training school!

hatbatcatxx · 04/12/2020 11:12

Yeah everything, clothes or things for the house not just £100 on coffee and cake ha.

Things for the house, if they're necessary rather than pointless decoration like cushions and candles, aren't a 'treat for you' though. Similiarly things that children need, if you have any, the're household expenditure.

As for whether £100 pw is 'too much' that depends on whether you can afford it, as in you have spare money after all essentials have been paid, including savings for annual and irregular expenses, pensions, running and repairing cars, insurance etc.

For some people it will be far too much because they won't have that much spare money, or they'll struggle to cover irregular essentials like car or washing machine replacement, but others it will be fine as they have plenty of spare money.

kittykat35 · 04/12/2020 13:15

I don't have a set amount...some weeks it's nothing and some weeks it could be 200-300🤷‍♀️

Definitelynotem · 04/12/2020 13:15

I give myself 30-40 a week, this doesn't include food or anything so is just for takeaways/trips to the shop/ occasional clothes

Littlemissnutcracker · 04/12/2020 16:24

I spend too much on things for the house (it's my only hobby really - magazines and cushion covers. Accessories)
But I figure I live in it everyday and it makes me so happy. I am sitting under a lovely Robin throw I bought at the moment.

Mother2princess · 27/12/2020 09:53

I mainly only spend on the house not me i don't do takeaway coffee and cake

CarolinaWeeper · 27/12/2020 16:26

Probably about £50-70 a week. DH and I both keep £500 per month for personal spending money (everything else gets put into joint account for bills/food shopping etc.) Out of my £500 I put £150 into my S&S ISA, £25 for gym membership and the remaining is for whatever I want. Some months I spend it all, other months I save most of it. Usually most of it's gone though!

Snowman123 · 01/01/2021 13:39

Average over the last 3 months is 492pm.

11 on clothes
7 on online subs - kindle books etc
67 on PT
19 on parking
203 on takeaways and eating out 🤦🏻‍♀️
184 on hair, nails, make up, perfume etc

Pisteachios · 01/01/2021 13:40

Every week on treats.. probably about £40? On takeaways mainly atm

Madbengalmum · 02/01/2021 17:05

Very little at the moment. As doing nothing apart from seeing my patients. As i have spent very little on clothes etc this year i have bought about £1k worth of sale stuff, but majority will probably be returned!

Audreyseyebrows · 03/01/2021 20:45

Approximately £150 a month.
Hair, eyebrows, lashes, books and pastries Grin
I have a separate treat budget and if it’s empty I go without.
I think it’s important to treat yourself if you can.

Megan2018 · 03/01/2021 20:49

£0
Unless you count the spending associated with my horse and then it’s a fuckton - £6-700 easily a month. This is why there is £0 left for anything else Shock

Tier10 · 03/01/2021 20:56

About £150 a week on clothes, coffees, occasional lunch (not so much lately), toiletries, hair etc. Sometimes more if I’m
having something like botox done.
I have £950 per month for myself but never spend that amount so I save the rest.

BackforGood · 03/01/2021 21:25

Really difficult to count, as it depends what you are including......

A meal out as a couple / family?
(Or takeaway at the moment)
Picking up a sandwich between work visits ?
Hair cut ?
By 'clothes' are you including when you need new pants, or are you only counting 'a new top you don't really need' ?
Getting something new for the kitchen?
Does a box of cakes for the family count ?
Are you including regular monthly expenses like you might be treating yourself to Netflix ? Or some time at the gym ? Or 'subs' for a choir or sports team ?
You need to let us know what you count as 'spending on yourself'

Ffsnosexallowed · 03/01/2021 21:29

Just now? Fuck all. Though I have just bought a shirt and a dress. We're spending a lot more on foodie treats - but that's not just for me. Also just spent about £8k on the house and about to buy a puppy - but none of those are treats for just me.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 03/01/2021 21:34

I've spent £10 this week on a revision book for DD. Tell a lie, I've spent another 99p on a book for me.

I do normally spend more though, just seem to have a dearth of social engagements currently for some reason.

lljkk · 03/01/2021 21:37

I was going to say nothing, but...

I bought DS some chips (& sausage) yesterday for about £3 & had to finish them for him. So that was about £1 I guess. Sometimes I'll buy a soda when he has chips. So maybe actually more like £10-£15/week when I count things like a new fitbit strap or a jar of Nutella.

Stationfork · 03/01/2021 22:07

Before corona about £40 a week. I loved a coffee out.

Nowadays pretty much zero. The only thing I have bought this side of Christmas other than groceries or food is one McDonald's breakfast on a night shift. That's it.
