I've been watching these MLM threads for ages now, I have a couple of bots in my friend list so do a lot of daily eye rolling with the latest shite that they're spouting - my faves are the before and after pictures of 'customers' who seem to have morphed into completely different people ....missing tattoos, completely different facial features Hmm

But I digress, a family member has announced their new business........

How do I find out if the (social media based) travel business they've set up is legit or, as I suspect, an MLM type scheme?

acatcalledjohn · 30/09/2020 00:11

@Carpballs visit the pages of the repeated likes and comments. You'll probably notice the same names appear on your relative's posts because teamies/uplines/downlines just forever like and comment on each other's posts.

acatcalledjohn · 30/09/2020 00:12

But it's probably inteletravel because they are recruiting like mad.

fromdownwest · 30/09/2020 08:56

@spanfan - Rules do no apply to them, I belive that their county was locked down when the hilarious prankster travelled back to his London pad.

Carpballs · 30/09/2020 09:04

@acatcalledjohn, ah yes! All the "interested" comments from their groupies who are already in.

Nothing yet on her posts.

With Inteletravel, other than the usual giveaways, is there anything else to look out for? I've had a look at their website and seems to be a lot of Instagram blog recommendations which I'm guessing are their sales reps?

acatcalledjohn · 30/09/2020 09:28

Not so much. My Inteletravel bot has roped in her husband and they now have a "family owned" "travel agency". They advertise under a name they have come up with for this "massive opportunity", rather than actively using Inteletravel. He certainly still has his full time job but I can see posts from them in local groups throughout the country, not just the area they are in, recruiting people.

Lord knows how much they actually sell. I occasionally venture in to their public group and see remarkably little interaction, so honestly I think this will blow over.

This second round of restrictions have made me feel some schadenfreude when it comes to the travel MLMs.

(Not close to - the place one lives - travel)

Twentytwentyhindsight · 30/09/2020 10:18

@Carpballs
The way Inteletravel works is that you pay for an online 'training course', and are then 'qualified' to go on their books as a 'travel agent' (for a substantial monthly fee).

Those who recruit you get a cut of your joining training fee and your monthly subscription.

The money is all made by recruiting as many mugs as possible, I have seen Inteletravel reps bragging about how much they are making without they, or their downlines selling a single holiday (not particularly likely, as they don't have access to any particularly good deals, and who's going to buy from some random on FB, especially at this time...).

In that sense, it more closely resembles a pure pyramid scheme than the MLMs where a product does actually change hands (although usually within the pyramid).

ticktock19 · 30/09/2020 10:40

Not sure if it's any help but Mrs Sponlie has just uploaded a 3 part expose on Inteletravel and how it works.

Also...Vicky Pattison (ex Geordie Shore 'personality' ) has set up her own Inteletravel business 😡..if you search Vicky's Vacays on Insta then you can see all her nonsense and recruitment strategies

broke has put a shout out for £300 as he has gashed his arm and now it’s really infected (where he was pissed the other day) and smashed his phone.
He needs the money urgently.
Assume he didn’t think about travel insurance?

CodenameVillanelle · 30/09/2020 12:08

God he's awful isn't he

Ladiva1971 · 30/09/2020 12:32

What an absolute muppet Grin

ticktock19 · 30/09/2020 12:42

That made me laugh (which I feel bad for) but that's so typical of him...I think you're right about the lack of travel insurance....go fund me in 3,2,1......🙄

Twentytwentyhindsight · 30/09/2020 12:57

Absolutely no sympathy for that oxygen thief. He has inveigled himself into his ex's holiday after treating her like absolute shit, and is probably ruining it for them all with his behaviour.

I do not for a second believe it is about 'spending quality time with his kids', otherwise he would not be shoplifting duty-free gags & booze and getting completely off his face all day.

Someone has said it before, but there is no doubt the reason he has gone 'friends only' on social media for his overseas 'exploits' is that they would otherwise provide rich materials for anyone investigating his claims to be unfit/searching for work...

Anyway, surely his amazeballs magic lotions and potions can easily treat something as trivial as an infected cut?

Twentytwentyhindsight · 30/09/2020 13:15

Also, didn't Broke at some point qualify as an Inteletravel 'independent travel Agent'- surely someone with such lofty accreditation would never be so careless as to travel to a non-EHIC country without at least some insurance cover, if not for himself, but also for his kids (not that he would even know what an EHIC card is..)?

Changedname32 · 30/09/2020 14:14

He’s saying he does have insurance but he has to pay upfront for treatment and then claim it back because that’s what they do in Turkey ?!

acatcalledjohn · 30/09/2020 14:23

Paying upfront is not that unusual, but if that is a term of your insurance then you make sure you do have some savings.

Going abroad with no cash safety net is idiotic because if anything does happen you could be in serious trouble. And who will pay then?

Then again, Broke doesn't want to think about how life works. If he did he'd probably be a little less "unlucky".

acatcalledjohn · 30/09/2020 14:29

Wig has shared a post stating that masks are for depopulation and you have decreased oxygen intake when you wear one.

I don't think I've ever encountered someone quite as thick as her and Sleaze.

@acatcalledjohn Grinlove it!

Sforsh49 · 30/09/2020 17:12

Anyone heard of Fadorable Ltd? An acquaintance has signed up. When you look at their FB page it says earn 20% for selling our products which to be honest appears to sweets and then a load of random tat, however she's posted a link where you can sign up too and it has her as "referred by" when you click on it.

She's also deep into Utility Warehouse which makes me think it must be MLM....

AlexCabot · 30/09/2020 17:23

I've seen Fadorable pop up recently. It seems to be a bit of an 'add on' MLM as everyone I've seen flogging it also does at least one other.

One of DH's staff has handed in her notice. She's been off for ages with stress and really struggles with her mental health.
But it's ok, she's going to make enough from doing Body Shop so she won't need to work.Hmm

It's so worrying, there's no way she'll cope if when it fails.

BSintolerant · 30/09/2020 21:32

terrywynne · 30/09/2020 22:06

Not strictly MLM but since looking at the coaches that circle like vultures around MLMs, I am getting bombarded with adverts for coaches running sessions on how to identify local leads/LinkedIn leads/funnel sales leads; set up recurring online income - memberships/subscriptions/online courses (which once set up don't require further work, which sounds rather dodgy); run challenges (or occasionally how to have an online course without the challenges/big launch that everyone else says you need to do...).

Now I can see this being the sort of stuff that appeals to MLM bots (and that some of them scholar to go into when they realise there is no money in MLMs), but what other types of businesses are these coaches targeting?? They always seem to say they work with successful business and sometimes have testimonials saying how they have increased income by X amount (often in similar language to MLMs - 6 figure income, £20k months etc) but the ads rarely state the industry.

There is a lot of similarity with MLMs in the language used, the emoticons etc but I am not sure whether that's because the coaches learnt from MLMs or the MLMs from the coaches... Or is this just online marketing these days (I saw one the other day about how to attract your ideal student as an online tutor).

Also how do I get rid of these ads now they are stalking me... Hmm

Sforsh49 · 01/10/2020 09:14

Broke's made his begging post public. Someone's called him out on going on holiday in the middle of a pandemic. He's a vulture someone offered him £50 from their overdraft and whilst he doesn't outwardly accept it he doesn't say no either.....

acatcalledjohn · 01/10/2020 10:34

Maybe he should get some neat vodka from the all inclusive bar and disinfect his wound that way...

Halo

The irony of calling the insurance a piss take when he doesn't fucking read the terms and conditions.
