Come and join us if you want a simple no spend month

The aim is to just spend on supermarket shop & fuel (Direct debits first bills)

No spending on anything else till February. The idea being it gives your purse & bank balance a rest after December & take stock of mindless spending

How did everyone's weekend go? Spending-wise?
I managed a zero spend day on Saturday due to a walk to the library to get the DC some books.
Yesterday, I got the weekly shop in Aldi for just under £30 for the four of us. And today is looking like a zero spend day too.
Is anyone esle like me, realising the lengths they used to go to to make excuses to spend money? I'm a master at it 😂

Well, I'm chuffed that I have been frugal.
I just got my tax bill :o

Good weekend, but bought lunch out for me and my dad (and baby DS) today for £15. To be fair we go every Tuesday and he usually pays so thought it was probably my turn.

Joining in very late but only just found this thread! I’ve been doing no or low spends all of this month (with mixed success!). Going to make the last week of the month count...

ZimZamZoom · 29/01/2020 13:12

Well, payday came and for the first time in about a decade, there was a bit leftover from last month.

I've been trying to have no spend days everyday (not including bills and food shopping - although I have been strict about meal planning and only buying what's on the list).

Slipped up at the weekend because we took the children to a free gymnastics trial, and I couldn't resist a hot chocolate from the café.

I also had a good sort out of the bathroom cupboards and lined up all the unused/half empty shower gels etc to be used up. Will only be buying replacement toiletries/cosmetics as that was one area where my overspending was off the charts!

How's everyone else getting on?

ivykaty44 · 30/01/2020 09:57

Hello

Nearly there...

I was taken sick in the middle of last week with an aweful virus 🤮🤢 sadly seem to have lost about 5 days. I’m now though feeling much better but I literally hzz as vent been out of the house for a week.

Which means I haven’t spent a bean 🤑

Saw doctor who prescribed some stuff and that was fetched

So in terms of my spending days this months I’ve done exceptional well at about 6 spending days in total

I’m going to take the money I’ve saved this month and put to one side and continue to be a bit frugal in February to see if I can add to it 😊

Sorry to hear that Ivykaty44. Hope you're well on the mend now.

RubySlippers77 · 03/02/2020 20:39

Hope everyone had a suitably frugal January! Is anyone up for a February thread? Our finances aren't looking too bad at the moment but with half term approaching, I could do with saving some £££!

ZimZamZoom · 03/02/2020 22:45

Yes, I'm definitely going to try to continue through February and beyond :)
