i/2 house was left to her in a will, but a person could live there until she did.

We cannot find soliciters/person who is other part owner but know house was sold in 2002/

What can we do?

you want to know the solicitor who sold house in 2002? The Land Reg. have this information

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 19:10

they only have the purchasers not the sellers.

yes you are right only been on mat leave for 6 months and I have been brained washed

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 19:12

and we have asked these (the purchasers solicitors) if they will give us the sellers solicitors but they have said that they will try and find them but it will cost 50 quid (even if they don't end up finding them)

yes and you know the names of the people you want, but LR would hold addresses for them

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 19:13

OOOgs how does this work.

If house was sold - and they couln't find mil or didn't know to look. what would happen to her half of the share?

OP posts:
Beetroot · 27/07/2007 19:13

so mil owns half a house with 'A'
mil dies
'A' sold house
yes so far

LittleBellatrixLeBoot · 27/07/2007 19:15

Who was the executor of the will in which your MIL inherited part of the house?

would be worth contacting them. Their responsibility to see that the will is executed properly.

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 19:19

ok

two sons

I and J

they were left house but their stepmum could live in it until she died.

SO

I and J die in 80's (maybe 90's)

stepmum live on in house

House is now going to mil and j's daughter.

mil now died so house is going to

j's daughter and mil kids (dh and bro and sis)

The will will say who the executor was.

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 19:46

we don't have the will.

the solicitors who dealt with it are gone

But you can get a copy of an old will, not sure where from, think it is Catherine House, if you know the name of the deceased person you can get it from them.

LittleBellatrixLeBoot · 27/07/2007 19:56

You should be able to get hold of a copy though, a will is a public document. Don't know if this site is any good, do you know the name of the person who left your MIL the house?

LittleBellatrixLeBoot · 27/07/2007 19:56

Oops cross posted

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 19:58

am sure dh knows

OP posts:
Helennn · 27/07/2007 19:59

Quickly reading the link I put up, it says the search people, (or you can do it yourself), can sometimes find what you are looking for just with a surname, and a rough year of death. May take a while but it sounds like it would be time well spent!! Also, these people look useful!!

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 20:11

Helen thanks for those I wil give them to dh to rtake a look at.

Helennn · 27/07/2007 20:18

No problem - will you let us know the outcome? ((Helennn takes off private eye disguise and leaves the room), .

Beetroot · 27/07/2007 20:21

oh yes I will do - we may have to go down the private dective route uyet
