Hi

I'm a housewife and have 3 kids!
I don't work.

I have got into debt with my over draft and credit cards amounting to just under £4,000 and I don't know how to pay it off? I tried to get a loan but it was declined I expect because I don't work.
My husband gives me around 750/800 to pay cc off each month but I can't seem to to get straight.
I haven't told him about this as he will get so stressed, say we will lose the house and say I shouldn't have cc as can't control the money situation and tbh I can't face telling him as I feel so ashamed.

What should I do ?

Try and pay off each month ?
Or tell him ?

We could pay it all off with out offset but that would leave us without much left for emergency funds...

It's getting me so down and depressed and I keep crying about it but can't tell anyone.

You are given more money each month than I earn! I work full time as a nurse. I have 2dc, a dog and a cat. I pay my bills.

What on earth are you buying each month???

Tell your husband.

Hi
Update.
I was craping myself but I told DH last night after kids went to bed. Obviously was not too pleased and couldn't understand what I have done but wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I hated not telling him as it was actually making so stressed and ill.
He is paying it all off today for me.
Going to do cash weekly as think that would help me and write a lot of what I need down on a list instead of just going in and buying without one.

Avoid Waitrose or M&S.

Thank you for all yr advice much appreciated.

Go through all the statements and figure out what the spending has been on.

Then make a weekly budget and stick to it. Don’t forget things like clothes for the kids, toiletries, lunch money, birthdays, haircuts - all that stuff we spend on irregularly that adds up.

Well done sorting it out with DH 👍 I know it can be daunting.

As suggested, go through your statements and see what you have spent money on.

I agree no more Waitrose or M&S. Are you throwing food away? Poor stock control is a really bad habit but you can get out of it.

Please go to the library and borrow one of Alvin halls books on money management. Cut up those cards and close the accounts. When they write to you offering new cards (and they will do so) email them to opt out of marketing communications.
