Hi,

I am doing a poll about council tax bands.

I live in a new build 2 up 2 down terrace with no garden.

My band is B.

foxinsocks - it is the LibDems. I have a long correspondence with my local lib dem MP who is a leading light in this policy area.

I really don't agree with the way that many pensioners are penalised - and I think that there needs to be some consideration of ability to pay. My point to him was just that the size of your gross income does not necessarily equaly ability to pay.

Labour wisely cancelled the revaluation because they knew that it would cause uproar. However, many newbuild houses are definitely over-valued for council tax as a result.

NDP - whoah!!! That must win the highest council tax????

mumfor1standfinaltime · 25/01/2007 13:38

Seems odd how there isn't always a huge difference between the bandings regarding how much you pay a year.

Noone has said band A yet either. Strange.

We are Band G.

Have just got the bill and we are billed monthly for 6 months, for each 12 month period. Total bill is £2087 per month.

Checked bill for old house, we paid £167 per month over 6 months for a 12 month period.

Sorry for confusion !

mumforthe1standfinaltime - ours is only 140 per month, but it is a flat.

I was in Band A once - a very small 60s built flat in Chelmsford. It was pretty gross, but nice and cheap.

Cloudhopper · 25/01/2007 13:42

S London - if it helps my MP is Paul Burstow.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 25/01/2007 13:43

cloudhopper, ours is £105 a month.

We also used to live in a 3 bed maisonette, built in 1969. Tatty little place, but cheap and in the City Centre! Walk to work!
This was Band A.
