Still going strong here at bot watch HQ on MN!

Previous thread here

Botwatch on Wordpress and on Facebook

Timeless Vie on Wordpress and on Facebook

Eyespeying's Blog aka #manhun, even if he's been banned by MNHQ

Hommetepreneur on Facebook

NEW Link to the Daily Mail article of 20 May 2016 regarding an ex-bot's treatment at the hands of her 'spline' at Forever Living UK

NEW Link to NastashaBarnbotShingles' refutation of the above.

We have our own regularly returning bots to tell us how bullying and hateful we are.

Glossary:

Bots: our affectionate name for victims of the MLM racket

MLM: Multi-level Marketing schemes - essentially pyramid schemes that are just legal because you sell a product. Reliant upon constant recruitment despite there not being enough people in the world to go beyond about 12 levels if everyone recruited 6.

Downline/Upline: the people you recruited and those who recruited you (going up and down the pyramid inverted funnel)

Timeless Vie: Parody of MLM schemes (though you might spot one in particular) that also carries out fearless investigative work

Hommetrepreneur: also excellent parody site focussing on the menz

BotWatch: Rather more serious, keeps an eye on what the Bots are claiming next, particularly in reference to health and income claims. Also fearless.

Inverted Funnel: Timeless Vie is NOT a pyramid - it's an inverted Funnel, OK?

Eyes: Our former member Eyespying who knows LOTS about MLM schemes. He's still our very own #manhun.

Twunk (AKA ForeverYazoonique) has a bottle of Banana Yazoo in her fridge. She's still too afraid to drink it. Yahoo is important as seems to be the primary retail product for Life Tree World.

Camels, I'm reading through a report called "The Case (for and) against Multi-level Marketing"
By Jon M. Taylor, MBA, Ph.D., Consumer Awareness Institute
and there are a couple of interesting tables you can show your friend. Well, the first is the table, the other two notes accompanying it. Shocking stuff, if that doesn't change her mind, nothing will. Good luck.

Thanks all. Unfortunately I've been very sick for the past month so I'm trying to ease myself back in slowly. Trip to the supermarket almost did for me today. I will try to put some stuff together. Still d esperate for any Nuskin specific information especially the products so I can show her that there's cheaper just as good alternatives. She appears to have only just got ensnared and seems willing to listen.

stopfaffing · 26/05/2016 17:45

Oh, and Camels, please point out to her that the Annualized Commission amounts are gross commission amounts and do not include any costs/mandatory purchases made during the year. This is why most reps will actually lose money and work for no pay let alone minimum wage.

CamelsAndMaus · 26/05/2016 18:53

Thanks Stop. Although I think this might go over her head a little bit right now (as it would have done mine aged 19 - let alone with pregnancy hormones). I really want to know what terms she's signed up to and whether there is an actual contract.

I cannot believe there is no start up fee and no minimum purchase at all which is what she is claiming. I just want to put something very basic (which, as an example, my 12 year old DD would understand) just to get her thinking a bit more and hopefully look into it more. She's willing to listen so I want to tread slowly and carefully.

Unfortunately I've given myself 24 hours so I guess that's tomorrow morning taken care of but if I come up with anything I think is of use I'll share.

stopfaffing · 26/05/2016 18:59

Camel, all you could do perhaps is look at the contract she has signed. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Hopefully someone else will be along to advise Smile.

bumpingalong9386 · 26/05/2016 19:03

Camels I hope your friend sees the light soon, it's never nice when someone you are close to is drawn into the crazy world of MLMs.

I've reason this evening to believe my local convenience store is in cahoots with LTW Confused just popped in to pick up some bits on the way home and they are unloading colossal amounts of Yazoo and weetabix from their people carrier Hmm

ForeverYazoonique · 26/05/2016 19:07

Sorry to hear you've been sick Camels

The report that stopfaffing is quoting uses Nuskin as its example of an MLM. It's worth reading anyway TBH.

LOL Bumping just don't buy any Yazoo. It will follow you back from holiday and take your fridge contents hostage and try and attack you in the night.

DebbieDallas · 26/05/2016 19:13

There is an awful lot of discrimination and prejudiced comments on this thread. Poor Yazoo, it never asked to join a MLM.

DebbieDallas · 26/05/2016 19:14
Grin
ForeverYazoonique · 26/05/2016 19:15

Maybe it's just the Banana Yazoo that does that debbie Grin

bumpingalong9386 · 26/05/2016 19:23

I'm scared, what if it did follow me home and I end up with rogue bottles of Yazoo holding me to ransom?!?

DebbieDallas · 26/05/2016 19:24

Found this on google images. Maybe Yazoo isn't as innocent as I'd like to think.

Pffft at Yazoo pic :) :) :)

cozietoesie · 26/05/2016 22:24

And for those people catching up with the thread, a link to the excellent BotWatchBlog.

Seenthelight21 · 26/05/2016 23:34

Just catching up
😀
So much has gone on haha!
I know it's true about Forever changing their policy haha
They are clearly panicking!!!

The fathers day basket in the other page I have just totted that up at retail and it's just over £90 at retail value

Who seriously is going to spend that lol

This is why people struggle even if they reduced it to say £70 they are losing out and it's still expensive!!!!

CamelsAndMaus · 27/05/2016 05:07

Ok. Just spent the last two hours knocking up a document (insomnia has its uses) I've just realised it runs to 6 pages! Are we able to upload (word) files here? Otherwise does anyone want to have a read through for me? (PM me an email address)

CAM

cozietoesie · 27/05/2016 07:51

I'd be tempted to contact TV or BotWatch and ask if it looked OK to them. Who knows but that they might be able to use it also?

Toobusytowee · 27/05/2016 08:01

Camels, send it to Bot Watch and I'll have a read for you. I might be able to use it for a blog post or just check it for you.

CamelsAndMaus · 27/05/2016 09:01

Thanks all who have offered to read - I have emailed it through. Toobusy I have emailed it to you. Feel free to use it on TV or Botwatch if you think it is of use.

MrshumbleSnide · 27/05/2016 09:39

Good luck CAM

Bovneydazzler · 27/05/2016 09:47

Hope it goes well camel

Interesting podcast series 'planet money' - episode here about 'the anatomy of a scam' - many similarities to forever/Herbalife etc' if you have 20 minutes.

Bovneydazzler · 27/05/2016 09:57

Most interestingly on the podcast... That Utah is the base of so many scams, and these scams give so much in political contributions so get away with it...

kamchatka23 · 27/05/2016 09:58

Nowhere is safe from the relentless bots. Last night, in a Facebook group I'm in for adults with Aspergers a woman posted for 'feedback' a photo of her spidery-lashed face. Lo and behold, when I looked on her profile she's a Younique bot. I expect she was prospecting, and that the people that commented positively got pm'ed about it.

cozietoesie · 27/05/2016 10:08

MLM adherents become desperate - sit over a cuppa and think 'Who/what can I try next?' Any idea that comes to them and they'll go for it.

darceybussell · 27/05/2016 10:55

Latest Timeless Vie blog post is superb, I love the message from the nasty bot who said she should be 'shot with her own bags of shit' - stay classy forever living!
