That's right LMGTFY, the only health claim allowed for aloe is its laxative effect. But Forever Living remove that bit.

I imagine drinking that much Aloe Gel could be quite harmful goes off to investigate ingredients

Twunk · 04/05/2016 17:56

I think you'd be sick before the laxative effect took hold....

OP posts:
Twunk · 04/05/2016 17:56

(Note this is due to quantity of aloe not suggesting anything in particular about FL's product)

Little gem here from WebMD-

"Aloe is POSSIBLY SAFE when taken by mouth appropriately, short-term. Aloe gel has been used safely in a dose of 15 mL daily for up to 42 days. "

Holland and Barrat say to have 15ml a day but not if you are pregnant, breast feeding or under 12.

Forever Living's dose is 240ml a day, no warnings for pregnancy, breast feeding or children.

I am unable to find any details of any vitamin or mineral content in FL's gel. There is plenty in the actual leaf, but none documented in FL's liquid. Except for vitamin C but they added that. I wonder where it all went?

Web MD talks about dosages (used in scientific studies) as mg aloe vera but this information is unavailable for Forever Living's product. There is no way of knowing how much Aloe Vera there actually is in it. All the Aloe Vera Science Council do is certify that it has some DNA in it that came from an aloe vera plant.

If there are any FL people reading, it would be intersting to know if you have ever tried to find out exactly what is in the gel.

cozietoesie · 04/05/2016 20:33

Ouch.

BeckyWithTheHair · 04/05/2016 20:36

One of my bots gives FL aloe to her 3yo DD. Angry

Twunk · 04/05/2016 20:44

Pukka aloe gloop contains 99.8% inner leaf organic aloe Vera. The rest is 0.2% citric acid, used as a preservative.

You still don't need to drink the stuff but if you're after pure aloe surely that's the sort of stuff you want?

Note: for some reason a number of aloe drinks or gels are available

That isn't gel but a drink and it says 45ml a day.

Note; NOBODY needs to drink aloe in any quantities

BOT. Ffs stupid phone!

Nolongerconfused · 04/05/2016 21:26

Here's what happens when you leave FLP for another MLM company. Suddenly the "I'm your friend" nice mask slips. I'm sure there will be more charming comments to come. They will get removed from all groups and everyone is supposed to block them. Just like that.
Imagine if this happened in a Real JOB. If someone who worked for Tesco went to work for sainsburys and everyone blocked them and called them names. Awful!

Doesn't surprise me in the least - we've seen it before. We will see it again. One reasonably prominent bot we knew was subjected to a shocking hate campaign - utterly shocking.

That's terrible Nolonger! Why does it matter if they speak to people about the opportunity? Can't people think for themselves?

It's not like you're doing something terrible really, is it? You've just left because you believe you have found something better and are 'recommending' it to others, as they always say.

It must be very interesting to see what goes on in the private groups.

LMGTFY · 04/05/2016 21:46

Hang on, you're not even given the info on what you're actually drinking?

Twunk · 04/05/2016 21:53

There's an ingredient list Google

OP posts:
Twunk · 04/05/2016 21:57

But they don't say how the gel is arrived at (I think?)

INGREDIENTS
Aloe Vera Gel, Sorbitol, Ascorbic Acid (Antioxidant), Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate (To Help Protect Flavor), Sodium Benzoate (To Help Protect Flavor), Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol (Antioxidant).

BSintolerant · 04/05/2016 21:59

patzy People in cults like Forever Living aren't encouraged to think for themselves.

Nolonger Aren't they awful bullies? You must be so glad to be out of it.

CamelsAndMaus · 04/05/2016 22:04

Ok. Early hours (nearly 1am here) googling seems to show that there is a move away from the core MLM business and into other areas - mainly the business coaching or training; or software to support whichever MLM you happen to be involved with.

With that I'll sign off as tomorrow (ok, no actually today) I need to take my daughter to walk a friend's dog (animal mad pre-teen - 11 cats aren't enough and we refuse to ever do hamsters again. or fish) and my son wants to go swimming. That would be time with my children then.......

So in the meantime I leave you with more kittens

C.A.M

PS. we don't actually own a camel. You can draw your own inferences about maus (and English moggies and the random stray Maine coon kitten)

RaeSkywalker · 04/05/2016 22:07

Nolonger I am horrified to learn that I have been handling the 'colleague leaves for a new opportunity' scenario all wrong. When people leave, I am ashamed to admit, we get them a card and present, wish them well, and take them out for a drink. Obviously we're doing it all wrong! How embarrassing Blush

.... Seriously though, that is appalling to see. Thank you for posting, it really is an eye opener for me.

penny1ane · 04/05/2016 22:08

Oh dear. I recognise the couple in that picture. They were in forever way back when I started.
An FLP manager from the same team they were in posted a LTW post on fb the other day and they liked it.
I'm guessing that's who signed them up.

Rae yes you're doing it wrong.

They should be thrown out onto the street and verbally abused as they walk away. Then they are dead to you.
