I, for one, am extremely grateful for these threads, which I found by googling after being concerned by the personality transplant that had happened to someone I know who is on maternity leave and has been recruited into Forever Living. I could not understand what was going on with her; such peculiar phrases such as 'sack the boss', rang alarm bells.
I had no idea what an MLM was and by finding this thread I have been able to become informed and now feel able to warn people about what they are getting into if they mention one of the MLMs as an amazing business opportunity
Sadly the person I was worried about has blocked me and I don't know how she is doing.
I now have a Nuskin bit and a Younique bot. The similarities between all of these MLMs is striking. They clog up my timeline with super positive cloying memes and exhortations to 'join me/ join my team'
Obviously a lot goes on in closed or secret FB groups to reinforce the message and keep 'business owners' toeing the line.
I find the whole cultish; the language used, the cutting and pasting of positive messages, the refusal to engage with anyone who isn't a believer, the adoration of those at the top, the quasi religious rallies, the insistence that you attend 'training' (brainwashing), the expectation that you must be evangelical (sell the 'opportunity' to everyone you know/ meet)
