A brief history of the threads so far-

A few people were bemused at their friends' strange personality changes when they joined MLMs.
Eyespying told us they were tragicomic, thought stopping cultic racketeers.
We told him to go away, he was clearly obsessed, and can he go to his own serious thread?
We delved a bit deeper into the issues.
Eyes started creeping back. We told him he was too serious.
We became more horrified at the information being turned up and were sharing links.
Eyes told us aboutMerchants of Deception.
Timeless Vie was set up as a parody about MLMs.[[www.facebook.com/timelessvie
Facebook,]] Twitter, blog, Instagram and YouTube were all used.
People started coming forward, telling of their experiences in MLMs.
We became more horrified.
Bot Watch started on Facebook where links were put up of interest to do with MLMs.
Botwatchblog started and produced factual analysis of the discussions from MN.
MLM members (bots) waded in saying it was all ok. You can earn great money. You just have to work 19 hours a day and not worry about morals.
Bots complained about their names being used. Their lawyers complained to MNHQ so that MN now do not allow us to use bots' names or show screengrabs of their writings even if it is in the public domain.
Blogs and FB posts increased, with the increasing amount of facts and whistleblowers coming forward.
FL lawyer tried to get TV YouTube video banned.
Bots claimed we were bullying them because we were asking them questions they couldn't answer. we were called middle aged women and accused of being drug dealers.
It got a bit nasty so we ate some cheese for a bit and they went away.
Health claims from FL bots now reducing dramatically as a result of pestering from all of us.
We stopped telling Eyes he was too serious. We all started thinking in his language and realised he was right.
Eyes turned out to be very funny and entertained us all.
Sunday Times article produced exposing FL. With a little help from people here.
Lawyers still persisting in trying to ban TV's videos.

Thank you Cubic for all your insights and help! And glad we could be of service in return.

smiinky · 06/04/2016 16:21

Your posts were really educational, the truth of inside an mlm, especially for those of us who were never in one. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your mlm free life xxx

Twunk · 06/04/2016 17:01

Ugh I have full-on "hunning" over the launch of Jamberry on my newsfeed. You can join their "Jamily" Hmm

Also discovered I have another Younique bot - who has also posted the passive-aggressive "why buy from Boots when you can buy from trustworthy meeeeee? Your friend who wants to make a quick buck from you with the products you need"

Boots over Bots every time.

cozietoesie · 06/04/2016 17:32

'Jamily' ??

SuffolkNWhat · 06/04/2016 17:40

They can juck off

FelicityLemon · 06/04/2016 17:43

Have had some spare time this afternoon so I've been checking out Jamberry. Along the way I came across this advice on how to answer the pyramid scheme criticism. I'm convinced. Hmm

Delurking! It's the Arbonne Vegas conference next week, can't wait to see all the white cocktail dresses huns. Surprised there isn't more about Arbonne on here - it's all tiffany boxes and Loubs on my feed from the Arbottes.

stopfaffing · 06/04/2016 18:09

Love that it has a quote from Donald Trump, sums up the article really.

Have a look at this site which talks about Donald's involvement (and love for) MLM (features other US politicians too) .

Twunk · 06/04/2016 18:11

They can juck off

I'm at the boys Taekwondo and just audibly snorted at that. I styled it out though Grin

Twunk · 06/04/2016 18:13

I don't have any Arbonne bots. It seems only a matter of time though with the speed these damn things are expanding.

Twunk · 06/04/2016 18:27

Or as I describe it "a pyramid scheme with products to make it look legit" Felicity

I really don't understand the insistence you can't work your way up in a regular company - everyone starts somewhere! And many jobs are immensely satisfying.

(plus, satisfying or not, you actually get paid for your work, rather than working for free or even paying to work)

Toobusytowee · 06/04/2016 18:33

When these threads started I just had an FL bot. Now I have bots from Jamberry, Herbalife and Younique as well. It's spreading like a bad, itchy rash.

I've noted a couple of bots bringing out this doozy again.
"Network Marketing has created more millionaires than any other industry".
Nope, here's just one take on it

gottaloveascamhun · 06/04/2016 19:02

I want an Arbonne not! They are meant to be the classiest aren't they? Jamberry is everywhere on FB at the moment. Everyone is SO excited huns. I just can't believe the terrible quality of the product. I also wouldn't put them on my daughter's nails as heat is needed for the application... too risky.

gottaloveascamhun · 06/04/2016 19:14

Spotted: reference to FL in my holiday reading.

Well there you go! It's all Generation X

Justmeandtwokids · 06/04/2016 19:50

Forgive me for the really daft question but who does actually pay for the "free" trips abroad? I'm thinking of the aloe producer specifically.

Also, when is the market going be saturated? I know/know of 9 people selling aloe. There must be a limit as to how much overpriced hand soap people will buy!

FelicityLemon · 06/04/2016 19:55

Absolutely Twunk the product is a fig leaf.

There are more coming down the line www.npros.com/newcompanies.asp

I particularly like www.npros.com/dir/naturally-plus/ nutritional products, focusing on Super Lutein, a “broad spectrum multi carotenoid nutritional supplement” specifically designed for eye and overall health, and Izumio, marketed as a hydrogen infused water that Naturally Plus states will provide antioxidant benefits. Because H2O can always use more H.

SuffolkNWhat · 06/04/2016 20:03

It's the constant reference to the JP research etc that is getting firmly on my parsleii at the moment. They have been revealed to be biased, non-independently peer-reviewed and inaccurate with their use of placebo groups yet still the claims that JP is the most researched health supplement blah blah blah

cozietoesie · 06/04/2016 20:13

The 'market' already is saturated, Just. It has been for some time. People are putting life savings into baseless promises.

Someone remind me what the 'churn rate' is in MLMs?

gottaloveascamhun · 06/04/2016 20:23

Any more suggestions for books to read on MLMs? Can't remember the ones Eyes recommended.

gottaloveascamhun · 06/04/2016 20:40

Every time I read the word Mormon I think of the film Orgasmo :)

MrGrumpy01 · 06/04/2016 20:44

just the majority of money in a mlm is cyclic money. Some money is made from selling the product to outsiders but it is probably very little % wise. The free trips and cheques etc are main from what those in the system pay in, be it for start ups, the training, the success/celebration days, the 'essential material' etc Plenty of money made from one success day to pay towards a free trip.

thatoneindoors · 06/04/2016 21:19

Looks like some washed up Boy Band member needs a few Euros....promoting the C9 Hmm. Publicly available Facebook link btw...
