A brief history of the threads so far-

A few people were bemused at their friends' strange personality changes when they joined MLMs.
Eyespying told us they were tragicomic, thought stopping cultic racketeers.
We told him to go away, he was clearly obsessed, and can he go to his own serious thread?
We delved a bit deeper into the issues.
Eyes started creeping back. We told him he was too serious.
We became more horrified at the information being turned up and were sharing links.
Eyes told us aboutMerchants of Deception.
Timeless Vie was set up as a parody about MLMs.[[www.facebook.com/timelessvie
Facebook,]] Twitter, blog, Instagram and YouTube were all used.
People started coming forward, telling of their experiences in MLMs.
We became more horrified.
Bot Watch started on Facebook where links were put up of interest to do with MLMs.
Botwatchblog started and produced factual analysis of the discussions from MN.
MLM members (bots) waded in saying it was all ok. You can earn great money. You just have to work 19 hours a day and not worry about morals.
Bots complained about their names being used. Their lawyers complained to MNHQ so that MN now do not allow us to use bots' names or show screengrabs of their writings even if it is in the public domain.
Blogs and FB posts increased, with the increasing amount of facts and whistleblowers coming forward.
FL lawyer tried to get TV YouTube video banned.
Bots claimed we were bullying them because we were asking them questions they couldn't answer. we were called middle aged women and accused of being drug dealers.
It got a bit nasty so we ate some cheese for a bit and they went away.
Health claims from FL bots now reducing dramatically as a result of pestering from all of us.
We stopped telling Eyes he was too serious. We all started thinking in his language and realised he was right.
Eyes turned out to be very funny and entertained us all.
Sunday Times article produced exposing FL. With a little help from people here.
Lawyers still persisting in trying to ban TV's videos.

Yes, that's the one stopfaffing! I'm wondering if people in Canada who have access to this info would be able to pass on any income charts to the rest of us.

Motorheadmum · 03/04/2016 15:30

That's very very interesting darcey I know there was nothing when I was approached but this was over 3 ears ago. Let's hope they learned something from what happened to me!

Lovewineandchocs · 03/04/2016 16:26

Hello all 😀 just catching up with these threads after an Easter break away. What has happened to eyes? Did someone mention legal action? FL are v litigious at the moment-one of my jumping ship bots has received a FL lawyers' letter due to "poaching" her downline Shock

stopfaffing · 03/04/2016 16:34

A quick Google led me to the Canadian website www.competitionbureau.gc.ca

I'm on my phone so check the link is OK.

Here's an interesting story, it shows that although MLM does seem to have restrictions and rules, there is still a lot more to do.

stopfaffing · 03/04/2016 19:45

Oh no. I typed in "Jamberry" onto my fb search and found someone in my town who is launching on 5th April at 6pm, and we have one mutual friend. How long will it be before I get contacted?

I will share the TiimelessVie article...

I got targeted by a bot on FB - slightly annoyed that I was obviously seen as weak! I (too) politely just replied that I didn't believe in MLM schemes to which I was told " Lol.. the funny thing is the corporate full time job I have is more pyramid than anything I know.. fat cats at the top driving round in their Aston Martin and all the minions doing the work fir a pittance.. but hey that's life I guess. Take care lovely Xx"

I pointed out that she was still doing the same for the top of the forever living chain - and paying them to do so as well as working.

Wish I'd have mentioned sickness and pensions though lol. Is it better I got a lovely rather than a hun??

cozietoesie · 03/04/2016 20:23

I'm not sure it's being 'seen as weak' as much as it's 'your potential worth' and the position they're in. You might, for example, have someone that's vulnerable and a fairly easy mark but isn't likely going to 'shine' - so you just bite them off quickly. Someone else might be potentially much more difficult and time consuming but likely to be a real go-getter if you managed to hook them. And of course your own situation, if a struggling distributor, might influence your choices.

See if she contacts you again. You might get a 'Hun' next time. Wink

prettyusefulsometimes · 03/04/2016 20:33

blackistheneworange On the contrary, you may be on their "Chicken List" as revealed by Cubic (I believe) upthread, where they see you as a name on their WDYK list they are cautious about approaching as you may be an actual business person or a have a take no nonsense look about you!

The Ariix team I have my eye on are currently employing a morning routine worthy of taking Holy Orders. Lots of up before dawn, meditation, yoga and affirmations. FFS. They also all seem to know a medical type mystery person who is bombarding them with demands for their vitamin drink. Of course it's all very VagueBook as are all MLM social media posts because if they stated the facts we wouldn't be here.

MrGrumpy01 · 03/04/2016 20:36

I have a friend liking it - so maybe that is why.

I really am not their target market though - I can't even wear nail varnish as it causes my nails to be really painful after a couple of days, so I imagine I would have the same issue with wraps.

I would so fail at most MLM's - I don't 'believe in the product' enough.

blackistheneworange · 03/04/2016 20:57

Cozie and Pretty - thanks. I've kept following her as I find it quite amusing, although I do actually like her and hope that she works it all out soon!

(Powertotheparslai here, just name changed) if you guys haven't already seen this!

cozietoesie · 03/04/2016 21:10

How many 'No's' do they anticipate getting in some cases ? The figure 10 - for a start - comes to mind for some reason - so you may find you receive a lot more messages.

You'll also likely find yourself invited to meet in person, probably in the guise of 'Enough of that, but just contacting you made me realise how much I enjoy your company. How about a coffee to catch up.....' Grin

You can guess the sort of thing. It's a lot easier to say 'No' to someone by social media or text/phone than it is in person. Wink I reckon she'll be back in touch quickly.

Toobusytowee · 03/04/2016 21:15

I've been busy over on Bot Watch today and I would like to apologise to all the people who have liked the page and found themselves bombarded with notifications today. The last few posts give details on how to find out if an advert breaks any rules and a link to the ASA complaint form. Anyone fancy a visit, it is here www.facebook.com/liestopper/

I'm thinking health claims, I'm thinking recruitment ads.

You're getting a lot of likes there. Smile

SusanAndBinkyRideForth · 03/04/2016 21:38

Hello, really sorry but the thread is way too long for me to read it all - but I have a question.

I'm an agency worker in several different sites and keep coming across this one person who spends our lunch break trying to recruit others to her mlm team! She's also a temp agency worker.
It's very annoying - would I be in my right s to dob her in to the agency or the site of employment? Even though it's not affecting me personally - I sort of feel she's putting us temp agency worker in a bad light :(

fastdaytears · 03/04/2016 21:39

I would definitely want to know that if I was the agency boss. It's not reflecting well at all.

SusanAndBinkyRideForth · 03/04/2016 21:49

Yeah, I feel a bit mean but the people she is approaching are doing this temping for a reason and I feel she may be taking advantage of that :( Maybe next time I catch her at it I will give my agency contact a ring Sad

fastdaytears · 03/04/2016 22:12

You feel mean? That's very kind but I don't think you need to worry about that! She's the one trying to scam her colleagues for personal gain!
Hopefully they will all see through her, but as you say if their finances aren't great then it must sound tempting.
Maybe we can give you some Timeless Viie flyers to educate people!

crumpetsfortea37 · 04/04/2016 09:00

Just to say great TV posts - keep up the good work
